tankless water heater

This is not the first tankless water heater we have purchased. We first purchased 2 of another brand. They were "so so" at best with heating the water. We purchased them as our hot water tank was very old and leaking, and we also assumed it was running our electric bill up. And it was. To have a tankless water heater installed under the sink or close to the area you are drawing water, is a life saver! Instant hot water when you need it and only when you need it. No more using electricity to keep a 50 gallon tank of water warm all of the time, whether you are using it or not..

We purchased this particular unit as our #3 tankless water heater and are ecstatic with how much hotter the water is and how much more it is able to keep the water hot. This one heats 4 gallons per minute. Wonderful! Will heat to 150 degrees, so be careful you don't scald yourself. You "can" lower the temp if you fear someone in the household may get hurt that does not know how to cool the water with the cold water spigot. I love it! I have now purchased a 2nd unit to replace one of the other brands we purchased that provides fewer GPM and the water doesn't heat as well. Good luck!

Good unit. But you need to know what you're doing

This is a good unit if you install it correctly. I installed this unit as a backup to my oil fired unit. It works very well, but there are a couple of things: 1) Proper Electrical. This is key. This unit is 13 kW. For those that do not know, that is a lot of power in a residential environment. Before you click "order now", make sure you have adequate electric service to your home. You need a minimum of #6 wire on a 60 amp breaker. You may need to increase it to #4 if you are far away from the panel. Do not shave strands of copper off to make wires fit. Do not use wire nuts or some other "homeowner" connectors on this product. The best installation will have no splices, but if you must splice, you need hi-press barrels or bugnuts. Do not forget a means of disconnect rated for 60 amps. Get rid of the #8 whip the unit comes with.

2)Proper plumbing. This unit requires copper pipe to be used for a few feet in each direction of then unit. Make sure you include full port ball valves and a check valve in the install.

This unit "modulates" the heat based on the demand by pulsing the power to the elements. It is possible that this may cause flickering of t LED bulbs.

It is a good unit and I was very impressed with it performance.

Only lasted just over a year...

Update: The unit only lasted a little over a year and the elements went. The elements are still under warranty, but Rheem will not deal directly with us, and said the company that sold it to us (Filter Pro) on Amazon is responsible for honoring the warranty and I have to go through them. So far they are not contacting me back about the issue at all and are ignoring me. I emailed them a couple of weeks ago and got no response. Then Rheem was able to give me their phone number using the serial number on our heater, so I called and was first told to "call back later because the man in charge is at lunch" (I never asked for anyone in charge). I did just that and the man said ok we will take care of it, goodbye...even though he didn't have my name, order number, phone number, address, etc.... I say wait, don't you need any info from me?? He says I have your info. I asked him how he got it and then he says "well, give me your name" then "ok, and your address", then tells me again they will take care of it and to call him tomorrow. (keep in mind he still has no order number, no serial number, or any info at all really). The whole thing was very weird and I think he was just planning to ignore me all along. Called the next day and left him a voicemail and haven't heard back at all. Going to see if Amazon will get something done about this and will update accordingly.

Old: Works great so far (only had it three months) other than the fact that about once ever couple weeks we have to undo the screws to open it up and hit the reset button. At first we had to do it what seemed like every day, but then we lowered the temp setting on it (it is still plenty plenty hot), and we don't have to mess with it so often (maybe will try lowering the temp a little more to see if it eliminates the prob all together?). It did not affect our water pressure at all (only using it for the master bath) which is also good. Overall very glad we made the purchase.

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. I love the idea of a tankless water tank- have been using them now for 24 years. I have 2 Titans/Rheems- one is > 15 years old and is a work horse and used to preheat the water then a second one to get the water temperature to our liking. For the last 10+ years I've had to replace various Titans at least on a yearly basis, spending more on plumbers than I would had I purchased a $2K unit with a 12 year warranty. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I received from Titan a repaired replacement that didn't work, costing me $405.33 in plumbers costs to trouble shoot them over the phone with Titan themselves to try to get it to work. So I'm out $400+ and still have cold water. Don't waste your $$ on Titan or Rheem's tankless hot water systems (they're made by the same manufacturer). Insanity is purchasing the same tank over and over again, thinking I'll get a different outcome. I'm done.

I love this product! It is definitely superior to any other tankless water heater of the same caliber and quality. I have been using it for months now without an issue. Taking a shower is a dream now especially since there is no worry about running low on hot water. For a single person use this works really well, albeit you cannot run the hot water is several locations at once, but it is teaching me to be water conscience. Thank you for the great deal, my electricity bill is noticeably lower.

Installed last week $70 for wire and $40 for the breaker works very well. Installed it as a whole house unit, scalding showers and burn your hands hot water, only complaint is your installing 6/2 wire to 8/2 from the unit.

After 1 year of use this product failed, After 10 phone calls, half a dozen emails and arguing with the company they refused me warranty and now just no longer contact me.

I found this unit to be easy to install ,pressure fittings, and it required almost nothing in the way a setup, other than adjusting the temperature dial. Have only had it for a week or so, hence I cannot comment on durability. Lots of hot water. Although I found it easy to install, I would recommend a better set of instructions with regard to the electrical part. A first time do-it-yourselfer would have trouble with your abbreviated instructions.
