Wow these sound amazing. I am 48 years old and was listening to music I have owned since high school with these headphones today and heard things I've never heard before. Used them on my IPhone4, ITouch and my classic 160gb and they sound wonderful on all devices. They are so clean and clear. I have owned high end Klpsch, Shure, Koss, Sony, Beats and Bose and these are by far the best. The Bass is tuneable to your liking. They come with a ton of tips to pick from so they are a great fit. my musical taste is all over the place...from Bach and Motzart to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan to industrial, goth and rap and everything in between and they all sound better with these headphones. I also used them on my high end surround sound system and movies never sounded better. I think that I have found the keeper. No more searching, buying and selling of headphones for me. The best headphones on the market hands down.

My ie8 broken 2 weeks ago, and after long search i finally buy ie 8i as part of semi sidegrade.

compare to normal ie8 this 8i have much weaker base, if i'm not buy directly from amazon i would think it was fake, on top of it the adjustable base on iem itself doesn't seems working. with my old ie8 there big difference between lowest and highest base setting on headphone itself, it make no difference in 8i model.

i just got this few days and only burn in for 30+ hours.. i will give another 70 hour burn in and hope the base open up. otherwise i think i would return this and get westone UM3x.

I am pretty angry now since I spend $299.99 with a counterfeit IE8i. This is absolutely fake Sennheiser IE8i from seller "DDKAB CCK" with its blurred logo on remote control. You can also recognized it's counterfeit one as the logo in earphone unit has a board line instead of slim, aesthetic silver line in original model.

Avoid this buyer! Don't be fool by fake IE8i!

Erstmal vorweg: Ich hatte früher immer die Apple-Ohrhörer, danach Apples In-Ears und als ich dann irgendwann gemerkt habe, dass Musik doch wesentlich besser klingen kann, habe ich mich umgesehen und die Sennheiser CX 880i geholt. Für den Preis waren sie super und haben 2 Jahre lang gehalten, bis sie einen Wackelkontakt hatten, obwohl ich sie immer gut behandelt habe und brav in der Hülle aufgewickelt. Nun sollten sie ersetzt werden und ich wollte einmal etwas von einer höheren Kategorie probieren.

Allgemein:

Optisch finde ich sie zwar sehr groß, aber in dieser Qualitätsklasse gibt es viele Beispiele von schlichter Hässlichkeit (ich denke an ein JBL-Modell, bei denen das Logo aus den Ohren hervorsteht) und da sind die IE 8i noch am unauffälligsten. Im Vergleich zu Kopfhörern fallen In-Ears nicht so sehr auf und deswegen bekommen sie hier einen klaren Pluspunkt.

Zubehör gibt es reichlich und auch wenn die Tragebox groß und kantig ist, passen sie in meine Hosentasche und bieten Platz für das Reinigungs- bzw. Basseinstellungstool, 4 Ohrstöpsel (2 extra Paare) und ein Säckchen zum Feuchtigkeitsentzug. Wo ich den Clip hintun soll ist mir leiser schleierhaft und sie ich den Klingenstecker hineinpacke auch. Oft muss ich die In-Ears ziemlich hineinstopfen, was sicher nicht zu deren Langlebigkeit beitragen wird. Aber das Kabel kann ja ersetzt werden...

Tragekomfort:
------------------
Die In-Ears sind dafür ausgelegt das Kabel hinter dem Ohr zu verlegen. Obwohl es kein Muss ist, sieht alles andere optisch komisch aus, auch wenn der Tragekomfort nicht darunter leiden würde. Trotz der anfänglichen Überwindung sie überhaupt ums Ohr herumzulegen, da ich dachte, dass ich das spüren werde und es mich stören wird, musste ich feststellen, dass dem anfangs so ist, aber nach ein paar mal tragen fällt es nicht mehr so sehr auf. Nur das Kabel wirkt manchmal etwas zu straff, aber dazu komm ich gleich.

Mitgeliefert werden verschiedene Aufsätze, die doch sehr unterschiedlich sind. Viele haben berichtet, dass keiner für sie gepasst hat, aber bei mir war es nach ein paar Stunden klar welche ich brauche. Lustig war, dass die Standard-Aufsätze (mittelgroßen) zu klein waren, die großen zu dick und alle anderen zu klein oder zu unbequem. Die angenehmsten waren die etwas festeren schwarzen, die es in nur 2 Größen gibt. Sie sind wesentlich fester und dicker als alle anderen und lassen sich aber gut verformen. Wenn ich wüsste wie sie heißen, würde ich sie gerne beim Namen nennen, aber jeder muss sowieso seine eigenen Aufsätze finden oder dazukaufen.

Zum Kabel ist noch zu sagen, dass man es erstens durch die Schwerkraft irgendwann in eine richtige Form kommt und zweitens, dass man mit dem Kabelclip und der verschiebbaren Kabelfixierung das wettmachen kann. Vor allem dieser bewegliche Kabelhalter sollte verwendet werden, da ich vorher immer Probleme hatte, dass das Kabel einfach nie beim linken Ohr halten wollte, bis ich die 2 Kabeln damit etwas näher aneinander gezogen habe.

Sonst kann ich sagen, dass das Gewicht überhaupt nicht ins Gewicht fällt (kleiner Wortwitz am Rande) und ich im Vergleich zu On-Ears oder Over-Ears ich sie noch nie wegen Schmerzen abnehmen musste. Der Hauptgrund für meine Entscheidung In-Ears zu kaufen.

Klang:
--------
Ich bin sehr empfindlich bei Lärm, Rauschen und anderen Störgeräuschen, aber ab einer gewissen Klanqualität (sagen wir vielleicht 192kb und Mid-Range-Headphones bin ich draußen und alles klingt für mich gleich. Deshalb bewerte ich sie im Vergleich zu den Sennheiser CX 880i und eher als Laie:

Zuerst dachte ich, sie klingen sehr hoch und haben wenig Bass, bis ich feststellen musste, dass ich links und rechts vertauscht hatte. Ohne Blödheit ging es dann weiter und ich stellte fest, dass sie etwas tiefer geklungen haben, mit mehr Bässen und weniger Mitten und Höhen. Ich habe bei der Bass-Einstellung sie ziemlich niedrig eingestellt und nach ein paar Minuten klingen sie sehr ordentlich. Die Bässe sind nun nicht so übertrieben und ich bekomme ein sehr realistisches Musikgefühl, das sich nicht anhört, als ob alles künstlich wäre. Die Lautstärke ist wesentlich höher als bei den CX 880i und ich musste noch kein Knacken, "Übersteuern" oder ähnliche Geräusche bei hohen Lautstärken vernehmen, was oft bei billigen Kophörern und hohen Tönen passiert ist. Ich weiß nicht, ob man das in diesem Fall Übersteuern nennt, aber ich spreche von dem fürchterlichen Geräusch, das durch hohe Lautstärken ausgelöst wird, in diesem Fall aber nicht durch die Musik, sondern durch die Lautsprecher selbst.

Nehme ich meine Superlux HD 668B her, dessen Tragekomfort unter aller Sau ist, klingen sie sehr sehr gut, wobei ich bei den Superlux noch viel mehr Hintergrundgeräusche und weniger Bässe vernehme. Es handelt sich hier aber auch um Studio-Kopfhörer u.A. zum Monitoring. Somit nicht verwunderlich. Auch wenn die Superlux realistischer klingen, finde ich sie für den Musikgenuss genau deshalb nur bedingt gut.

Die Hintergrundgeräusche werden gefühlt zu 85% abgeschirmt und ich höre nur noch laute Geräusche sehr dumpf. Das ist das, was weder bei den halboffenen Superlux (gut, deshalb sind sie ja „halb offen“ xP), noch bei den CX 880i gut hinbekommen wurde. Die CX 880i waren besser als alle „normalen“ Ohrhörer, die man sich hineinhängt, aber die IE 8i setzen noch einen drauf!

Kabel & Remote:
----------------------
Das Kabel ist wie erwähnt relativ straff, aber nicht zu dick. Der Teil, bei dem das eine Kabel in die zwei augespalten wird, ist leicht durchsichtig, was ich sehr gut finde. Dasselbe gilt für den Klingenstecker. Durch seine Form passt er in fast jedes Handy-Case hinein und kann durch Ziehen nicht so leicht beschädigt werden. Mit der Zeit könnte es dennoch einen Wackelkontakt bekommen, aber das Kabel lässt sich für ca. € 40 ersetzen (!) ohne es neu kaufen zu müssen. Mehr kann ich dazu nicht sagen.

Die Remote ist dieselbe wie bei vielen anderen Sennheiser-Modellen auch und obwohl ich sie mag, ist die mittlere Taste stärker eingedrückt, als der Rest. Bei den CX 880i waren die noch alle gleich hoch. Die Remote fällt nicht ins Gewicht und wer sie nicht mag, kauft einfach die IE 80 oder ein Kabel ohne Remote. Leider bietet Sennheiser die trotz Ersatzkabeln nur mit iOS-Steuerung an, sodass sie bei meinem OnePlus One nur Play und Pause übernehmen, nicht aber lauter/leiser und das Mikrofon. Damit muss man halt leben.

Zur Info: Die Remote hat eine super Höhe, aber wenn man das Kabel nicht ums Ohr herumlegt, dann wird sie zu tief sein. Weiters ist die Remote, wie oft bei Sennheiser LINKS und NICHT RECHTS! Deshalb habe ich sie Ohrhörer schon so oft vertauscht. Für mich als Linkshänder der größte Pluspunkt, weil man das zu selten findet. Für alle anderen ist es wohl schier eine Umgewöhnung.

Fazit:
-------
Für € 229 sind die einerseits sehr gut verarbeitet, haben einen super Klang und wirken ausgetüftelt. Andererseits ist der Unterschied zwischen den CX 880i für € 100 vielleicht nur ca. 25 %, wenn ich sagen, dass die CX 880i zu den Apple-Ohrhörern 80% ausmachen. Vor allem in der Abschirmung, den Bässen, den Einstellungsmöglichkeiten, dem Kabel, dem Kabelclip und dem Tragekomfort setzen sie einen drauf. Die IE 8i sind mir mit den richtigen Aufsätzen erst 1 mal hinausgefallen. Die CX 880i mit den größten Aufsätzen regelmäßig.

Also empfehle ich sie oder nicht? Ich würde sagen für einen guten Tragekomfort, gutem Klang und dem Voraussetzung zu In-Ears: Ja, wenn man es sich leisten kann.

Wer ganz ehrlich keinen Unterschied zu der € 100-Preisklasse und darunter merkt, sollte sie zurückschicken oder gleich sein lassen. Es sind keine, die man sich so in die Hosentasche stopfen sollte und die man nach 1 Monat weghauen kann. Meine größte Sorge ist nämlich immer der Verlust und der Diebstahl, der bei Apple-Kopfhörern für € 29 zu vergessen wäre. Wenn mir aber € 229 geklaut werden, tut mir das doch wesentlich mehr weg.

Ich gehe ihnen 4,5 Sterne, also gerundet 5. Ein Versuch ist es Wert und viel mehr hat Sennheiser in der Consumer-Klasse (wobei wir hier vom Übergang von Consumer zu Profi sprechen) nicht zu bieten. Irgendwo weiter gäbe es noch die AKG In-Ears für € 1000. Doch hier setzen meine Ohren vermutlich aus ;)

Right, first off AMAZING PACKAGING. Second off, you DO get all the accessories: all ear buds, the little hooks, everything.

Sound quality is good but they need a while to warm up, also make sure your using the right size ear buds as they need to be fitted properly to get the whole picture, push them in, wiggle them about you'll know when you have them fitted right, trust me. The isolation is incridible and a little scary when crossing a busy road! But for sitting at home, drowning in music, a book or drawing or whatever: outstanding.

Unfortunately the right ear peice broke within a month for me but Amazon had a replacement sent to me the day after i informed them, and the broken pair was collected 3 days later as requested; so no problemes there.

They come with a 2 year warranty from Sennhieser as standard (which seems reasonable for £[]!). The Smart control mic does only works with iphones, tried it on my htc running windows mobile (6.5), and i could start and stop music and redial the last call on my call log, but that was it, mic didnt work etc. Saying that, was the same price as the earphones without a smart mic so no loss for me.

Other than that, great bass if you turn it up, good response range, and its worth tweaking your EQs on your mp3 player for each song: these earphones mean business!

I would however strongly advise anyone buying a high end set of earphones to do there homework! I spent a total of about 12 hours researching earphones tech specs, response range, reviews, etc. Compared Beats, Atomic Floyd, Sennhieser, Sony, everyone. Sennhieser are still solid as far as i can hear. Hope this helped!
