Silver Lining: Messages of Hope and Cheer - Enhanced Version Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

Sometimes we just need a pick-me-up. This collection of sermons by John Henry Jowett is perfect for believers who need a little joy in their lives. Each sermon is based on a Bible verse, and Jowett speaks on the cheerful aspects of the passage. Themes include the light of God, manna in the desert, Isaiah 40:31 ("They shall mount up with wings as eagles"), and resting in God. Jowett manages to preach happy and chipper sermons without sounding insincere or naive. These messages are a shining ray of hope in a dark world where Christians so often preach doom and gloom. Here readers will find comfort for everyday problems and assurance that something greater lies beyond this life.

Mr. Jowett, wrote in the early 1900s---yet one would think he was writing from the newspaper headlines of today! !
He demonstrates how timeless truth is!
    A wonderful Christian teacher --writer.
I have many of his books/studies, and he never grows old.
Many of his works were written before WW I, in which he address the restlessness of the world--yet, he demonstrates how we can be strengthen from within from "hidden manna" and the "strengths that are unseen".
If this man were living today, I would try to get to as many of his speaking engagements as possible!
I love introducing him to my friends, and of the half dozen books of his that I have read, they are all worthy!
