The Lord's Prayer - Enhanced Version Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 102 ratings

homas Watson was one of the many non-conformist preachers in 17th century England. He was barred from and then reinstated to the ministry several times, but nevertheless continued to preach. Lord's Prayer is the third volume of Watson's series explaining the tenets of Christian faith - the Ten Commandments and the Apostle's Creed are the subjects of the other two. He gives a lengthy exposition of each "petition" in the prayer, which is found in Matthew 6. Watson is heralded as one of the most readable Puritan writers - his style is simpler and less meandering than many of his contemporaries. Some reviewers suggest this book as a preface to more difficult works on prayer such as those by John Owen. It is a wonderful reference for believers who are looking to improve their prayer lives. Readers will be amazed by the vast meaning packed into these simple words, but also struck by the ease with which it can be prayed. This prayer our Lord taught us is of great importance and should be studied and treasured often.

The New Century Kindle Format is the only way to go with all of the puritan classics. Well worth the extra dollar to have your priceless classic edited and with working Table of Contents. Thomas Watson has written material in a straight-forward clear and concise manner on almost every essential christian doctrine. He is one of the easiest to read of the Puritans and a lot (if not all by the time you read this) of his material is now available for your Kindle on Amazon.com. Even with his easier to read, yet not abridged, style of writing you lose none of the authors reverence for the material he covers. I recommend anything written by Thomas Watson if available in New Century Edition.

If you read the Puritans, you probably already have your favorites. Thomas Watson is one of mine. He never disappoints. If you've never read one of his works, this is a great starting place. It really is food for the soul.

A wonderful book, helping you know and pray to God better than you ever thought you could. Phrases like "Our Father which art in heaven" and "Thy kingdom come" become amazing meaningful- you will never just whisk through the prayer again. The book helps you in all your praying.

The book explained the question that needed an answer.

Watson, with his fellow Puritans, does a great job of broadly covering the issues in terms of teh application of the Lord's Prayer in terms of the individual reading believer. He does not do so good of a job dealing with the broader issues of City of God versus the City of Man.
