Pimacotton is woven from (ELS) Extra Long Staple cotton that is remarkably soft and smooth yet up to 50-percent stronger and more durable than other cotton varieties. Because of its fineness; more fibers can be spun into a yarn of a given count, creating a very thick, dense, durable and absorbent fabric that becomes softer after each wash. Even though Pimacotton towels are promoted as the best quality towels on the market, the price tag does not reflect this considering they will last longer and provide more years of luxurious use. Homestead Textiles's Cooperative of American Cotton Farmers has constructed the Grower's Collection 6-piece towel set from hand selected, 100-percent U.S. grown cotton that has been woven into super soft Pimacotton loops using Zero-Twist technology. I received 2 sets of these towels 5 years ago. They have not lost their color and are wonderfully fluffy and work very well for quick drying out of the shower. My husband and I have each used our set of towels and even after going through the washer and dryer at least twice a week, the towels have not faded and are still wonderfully fluffy and quick drying out of the shower. I am thrilled with my new set of towels! My farmer husband, Mr. Practical, won't use any other towel brand. Wash towels 2-3 times before using to fully fluff the towels for drying. The towel set is more expensive than others, but the money spent is well worth it. I do have a confession, my brother is the CEO of the California cotton cooperative that grows the cotton for these towels, so not only are you getting a great product, you are buying American grown cotton.

I purchased these towels for my son and his wife when they had just moved into their new home during Christmas. They did not have much time unpacking all their towels and used these right out of the package. What they told me is that the towels did not absorb all the water off their skin when drying with them.

I read alot of reviews and many said that these towels are very absorbant of water, but the ones I received did not absorb water like they should. Maybe when my son and his wife wash the towels they may be more absorbant.

This is the reason why a gave three stars because of the absorbancy, but the towels are very soft, has a pretty color, and are nice sized towels. If after the towels are washed and absorb better, I will change my review.

I think that these towels must be coated in silicone and/or fabric softener: they feel soft but they don't absorb water, which is kind of the whole point of a towel.

Before using them, I washed them following the instructions for water & dryer temperature. When they didn't absorb a drop of water in use, I washed them again with vinegar, which is supposed to help strip off coatings that make towels feel soft but reduce their absorption abilities. At this point I've washed them 6 times with no real increase in absorbency. You get out of the shower, rub yourself with the towel, and feel just as soaking wet. It's weird.

They're basically unusable.

I looked all over the internet, at many reviews, and many towels. I settled on these, as being a good price, a nice fluffy towel.
But one of the hand towels has a frayed edge after 3 washings. I have read that frayed edges happen at all grades and prices.
Most of my 10+ year old towels do not have frayed edges. I guess they don't make them like they used to.
These towels are a nice weight, absorbent after the reviewer recommended vinegar wash. I like them. I just wish that the hand
towel would have stayed intact longer. After years of reading reviews, this is my first post.

First set fell apart upon initial wash/dry. Replacement set never became absorbent. Washed several times using vinegar and then baking soda as suggested, but these towels just smear water around on one's skin. Before these, I've bought cheap towels at Wal-Mart; they were always absorbent. They weren't as soft as these towels; but I have no use for towels that won't absorb water. Heck, they're not even useful as rags.
Well, after 4th wash in baking soda, they've finally become absorbent. Stiff soft. But more than just lint is still showing up in the dryer, but it seems to be lessening as well. So I'd say these are OK / 3 stars.
