Perfect for specific applications

I got this at a pretty good price on Amazon so no legitimate gripes. It was missing the pot attachment, but I bought it elsewhere for cheap. This does make me wonder what the seller is doing here, since the packaging was not completely sealed. Perhaps the pot attachment was removed? Anyway, about the stove system itself, it is great. Boils water in less than 2 minutes and is as light as is available for an integrated stove system. Yes you could go lighter with a coke can alcohol stove and various other stoves, but this is way more convenient. I wouldn't use the other methods unless I was trying to prove something. When in the backcountry, speed is important since there is SO much to do. This buys me some time to actually relax and not doing unnecessary camp chores. The perfect application for this is for freeze dried meals. You do not want to cook anything in this titanium pot due to potential damage that is well documented. The aluminum heat sink will stain the pot at best, or it can detach from the pot completely at worst. 9 out of 10 backpacking trips I take are freeze dried meals and instant coffee only. This is going to be my go to for most trips. I have liquid fuel stoves that are way more versatile, but a lot less convenient when doing a quick trip. This is the best available still. It looks like it is discontinued so get it while you can.

Jetboil tried charging me for warranty issue!

I'm disappointed in my experience with Jetboil. Before returning this stove to Amazon I called Jetboil to let them know the starter went out on this unit. Instead of offering up a simple return (within the warranty window) they told me I'd be charged over $35 plus shipping to replace the starter unit since I tried to "fix" the issue myself. All I tried to do was disassemble the stove and check the starter. I reassembled it just fine. NOT a recommended purchase for the price if you want a unit that will last and a company that stands behind their product.

I bought a new Jet Boil Sol Titanium and used for the first time on recent a backpack trip.
It worked great. A few notes:

- believe it has a smaller cup size than std jet boil at 3.5 cups total (.8L vs. 1 L)
- the jetboil unit with a full 3.53oz / 100g jet boil fuel canister and pan attachment is approx. 1 lb 4 oz
(boiling cup, plastic drinking cup, orange tripod, burner, 3.53z oz fuel, pan attachment, lid)
- the jet boil used 2.5oz of fuel in heating water for 6 dinners (freeze dried food) and 6 breakfasts (oatmeal and coffee),
leaving 1oz of fuel in canister at end of trip. Initial water temp was approx. 40 degrees before start of heating.
- starts at first click of the piezo lighter EVERY time, even at 7,200 feet (max altitutde that we used it); others have had
problems with their jet boil piezo starter working consistently - maybe it has been fixed?
- occasionally the flame would go out, but that seemed to be because of low setting - turning it higher appeared to
solve the problem.

A longtime backpacker that I shared the stove with on this trip was very impressed with the JB sol titanium, and he is
not easily impressed. We ONLY use the Jet Boil for boiling water - its strength - and NOTHING else. Would not dare try
to cook anything in it, such as soup, as it would certainly burn it, even if stirred CONTINUOUSLY.

Note that my Jet Boil Sol Ti did NOT come with a stuff sack, which I like to store it in within my pack, so I found one
that fit and used it - no problem. Would be nice if it did come with a stuff sack.

All parts, including fuel canister, fit perfectly into the Jet Boil Sol "pot". Perfect for its intended purpose.

Great product

I've been using the original Jetboil PCS for two years and liked it a lot for its simplicity, speed, and all-in-one design. I'm refining my gear this year for lighter weight and read about the SOL Ti on Backpackinglight.com where it won a faceoff between many of the light weight cook systems by other manufacturers. The Sol Ti is a nice step up, it's around half the weight of the original PCS, has the ability to simmer (the original was either on or off), and comes with the stabilizer and a piece for cooking with a regular pot, effectively making this two stoves in one.

I haven't used the stove on a hike yet but a trial run in the kitchen proved that the boil times were much faster than the original, 2 cups of cold tap water in about 2-3 minutes. I think the original was boiling the same water in around 4-5 minutes.

All of the pieces are smaller and lighter so I can see that it may be more fragile than the original, but I tend to be careful with my gear so I think it will hold up just fine. I'll update this post if it fails in an unacceptably short amount of time.

I don't handout 5 star ratings easily, but this little guy earned it.

It is very effective, and everything is self contained. Be advised though, the only fuel canister that fits nicely inside the mug is the 100g size. I couldn't believe some people complained about this, and can only assume they didn't do their research and didn't know what they were buying.

The cook system (mug) is only good for boiling water, and nothing else. So long as you understand this, and this is what you need it for, you will not be disappointed.

The 100g fuel canister last solidly for 1 hour of use. This little bugger lasted me for 1 week in the bush, did nicely for hot coca and my Mountain House freeze dried meals. It was perfect.

It's not cheaply built as some have described, build quality is well above average compared to my old MSR unit. Extremely light weight, perfect for packing into the back woods, and spike camp setups.
