Quality control is a lottery I guess.

Quality control is a lottery I guess.
I want to give this instrument 5 stars. I really do. I get it, for this price you don't get high quality pickups, premium finish, one or two piece body. But none of those factors matter for a beginner guitar. However there are 3 craftsmanship issues,, that are present on my EC-10 that make it disappointing.1. This one's minor. Electronics cavity looks like it wasn't cut by a router, but gnawed out by a hungry beaver. Inner walls are all chipped out and I had to sand those before I could add proper shielding.2. The neck profile is carved in a very weird manner. From the heel towards the headstock it gets thinner first (naturally, that's how it supposed to be), then from 14th fret it starts getting slightly thicker, producing some sort of hump. And from 9th fret it finally tapers properly again, right to the headstock. I wouldn't call this a very major issue, but it's irritating to someone with small hands, and takes some time to get used to.3. Frets. This was a total buzzkill. I was struggling constantly to tune the guitar, with no success. I thought at first that I was just failing to intonate it properly, because almost 1/4 of the fretboard was producing flat notes. Then I got a hold of a fret ruler. Starting from 16th position every fret is positioned with significant shift. See the picture. This renders the instrument basically impossible to properly intonate and tune.I don't know if this is a widespread thing with EC-10 or I was just unlucky to get a faulty one that slipped through quality control. I hope the latter is true, because I love ESP/LTD guitars.

The guitar came in beautiful condition. If anyone has bought a guitar online, you know the horrors of shipping, and getting a broken guitar. This was packaged very nicely. First layer was the gig bag. Then ir was wrapped inside that. Then, it had styrofoam on the switch, which would protect that as well as the knobs. Great quality on prepping the guitar for shipping.

I normally play bass, but wanted a guitar so I could work on songs i'm writing, as well as hopefully get my wife to play again so we could play together.

I ordered an amp and it came in the same day as the guitar. For the purposes of the review, I just tuned up the guitar with the strings it came with. I did order strings that I will swap out soon. This guitar sounds beautiful clean and distorted. The switch for the pickups works beautifully, though I will leave it in the middle for the balanced tone. The intonation is great, but there is slight fret buzz, so I'll have to redo the intonation after adjusting the neck a touch. It has great fast action, and the neck is good and thin. I'm not worried about that changing with the adjustments as the fret buzz is very slight.

The guitar, knobs, switch, and tuners all feel good and solid. For the price, this thing is definitely a gem (I got it for $189 and would have no qualms paying twice as much. Thank you ESP for such a great deal!!!!!

I kind of expected the body to be a tad bigger, but it isn't super small. Overall the guitar feels great and came with a really nice gig bag. It sounds really good and the pickups work. (And my amps aren't all that great)

I don't know anything about electric guitars, but a friend of mine has been playing for a long time and recommended I buy this. After it came over, he tested it out - it needed no setup other than a bit of tuning, and it sounded amazing. He didn't really have any criticisms of it, especially at the price level.

Minor damage from shipping but not worth the return hassle to me. Fret ends are terrible but I can fix them pretty easily. Maybe not so easy for someone who's never done it without the right fret end file. Not sure it's really worth 4 stars but there isn't a 3 1/2 so..... All in all it's worth more than the price paid. I bought it essentially for the neck, I'll change the nut to bone, the pots to at least 250k and the three way switch with something better. I'll replace the pickups with something a little more "blues friendly". Pickup are pretty hot and would be great if your a metal head. A pretty nice body to start with for the money.

Was excited to have an LTD with ESP pickups at a price I could afford but Wow! You get what you pay for. This thing is falling apart. Knobs are loose and there isn’t anything to tighten them up when you open up the panel. Have played it about 3 times before issues occurred.Looks great hanging on the wall and does stay in tune! Other than that…. No, just no.
