Product Description
The Standard Gage 00534020 digital caliper measures 0 - 6 inches and 0 to 150 mm with 0.0005” and 0.02 mm accuracy and resolution to 0.0005 inches and 0.01 mm. It has a stainless steel beam and slide for corrosion resistance and to help extend caliper life, thumb roller for fine adjustments, 1.6 inches (40-mm) jaws, and includes a depth rod to allow for depth measurement in addition to the standard inner diameter (ID) and outer diameter (OD) measurements that most slide calipers can perform. The LCD display is easier to read than a vernier caliper.
The caliper can be used with one hand by operating the fine adjustment roll with the thumb. The single battery is accessible, on the front of the plastic casing next to the LCD. To zero the caliper at any position, use the zero button. Linear accuracy meets the international Deutsches Institut fur Normung 862: Vernier Calipers Requirements and Testing (DIN 862) standards. Approximate jaw depth for the outside measuring jaws is 1.6” (40 mm). This caliper comes in a fitted plastic case with inspection certificate to help ensure conformity to technical specifications.
Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The dial caliper is used also for measuring size differential between two objects. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.
Standard Gage manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools, and is a product line by Hexagon Metrology. Standard Gage is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

I ordered this pair based on the reviews and I must say that so far it's better than my original that cost me $125.00 some 16 years ago.
Some notable items include the tightness of it, zero slop in the fit and as anybody knows this is important for accuracy. It rolls back and forth smoothly, also a plus for accuracy. And the buttons are not a soft contact like say a TV remote, they have a tactile click when you press them. And the screen is larger (bigger than my old one) and very clear and easy to read (at least until I get a chance to scratch it up a bit).
It comes with a nice case but for my use it will rarely be in it. If you keep your's in the case you will see the hinge is real with a metal pin (not hinged plastic) and the latches slide to lock it closed (again not hinged plastic). The hinged plastic stuff always breaks after a few dozen uses.
It takes the larger CR2032 battery which means I should be good for a year without changing it.
The one thing I am not super happy about is the lock knob (to hold the caliper in a fixed position) is short and a bit hard to twist tight (digs into fingers a bit). My old one was more than twice the height and easy to tighten. I do use this feature a lot so if I can't get used to it I may have to fix that (luckily I have a 3D printer that will help).
Also the depth gauge is a small hardened pin while my old one had a very robust rectangular rod that was very thick and never bent even with all my abuse. I am not sure the thin pin will fare as well but only time will tell.
Overall, if you are not after a $100+ to $300+ Starrett or Mitutoyo then this one is a no brainer.
I will update this review if I find any shortcomings in the future but for now, I am a happy camper.
The zero on the calipers does not change from one on-off use to the next. Readings are easily made and conversion from inches to mm instantaneous. Overall I would say these electronic calipers are well made and worth the money. I would definitely recommend this to others.
