I purchased this for work with my Sweet Adelines Womens' barbershop chorus. I am one of the section leaders and I needed a keyboard to help us learn our songs. It is exactly what I needed--portable, no fancy bells and whistles, just a keyboard to give us the intervals to sing our particular part. I also wanted to get into arranging songs in barbershop style chord structures. I took this to my class, and it gave me a nice, clean sound to help me figure out chords needed. I am very happy with this simple keyboard--I have exactly what I need to help my chorus learn our music faster and with more accuracy. I have also discovered it awakened my desire to play more than just using the hunt and peck method. The keys respond nicely, and are only slightly smaller than full size. I was worried that maybe I would need more than 61 keys, but even if I become a more proficient piano player, this range is perfectly adequate for my needs. I was happy to see it has a metronome, that is a valuable feature. Bottom line is that the simplicity of it, the light weight, the 61 key range, the responsiveness of the keys, the nice sound and the great price make this a very good deal for someone who just needs to be able to learn vocal music and chord structure.

This small lightweight "piano keyboard" was bought to give keyboard practise capability in a small apartment. For that it is great.
I expected closer to a real piano feel to the keys, but the Yamaha GST system do not seem to do that. The key touch is very, very light and the keys are noisy when released. Playing chord with even sounds is a challenge with this key touch. Pity since the sounds are great when heard through headphones or even good quality "computer speakers". I would not recommend this for those learning to play piano due to the key touch.

Overall, for the money, a good little keyboard. It's solidly built, has a decent playing feel (but no piano action, of course), and okay sound. I say "okay" because maybe I was expecting too much, based on the wonderful Yamaha YPP-200 I scored for only $450 about 12 years ago. That unit has excellent sounds, particularly the grand piano. Here...eh. I think they adjusted tonality for the internal speakers, which don't have much high end. If you use good headphones or hook up to a good stereo, the sound has a noticeable digital "edge" on the upper registers. And the grand piano really sounds as much electric as it does acoustic. But, fortunately, I can use MIDI to access better piano sounds inside my computer DAW. So considering it also functions as a basic MIDI keyboard controller...reasonable deal.

This piano shuts off automatically. I tried to work around with the auto shut off but wasn't able to fix it. It is frustrating that the piano shuts off while I am playing. I tried to return but they say the return window has already closed. I have no idea what to do. Please suggest, if anyone has the same problem with the piano and found a fix.

I'm an adult beginning piano student and wanted a small keyboard that would allow me to practice while away from home on trips by car.

First disappointment with this unit was discovering that the keys are a bit smaller than full-sized piano keys. The description says piano-style keys, which I took to mean full-size, so I found that a little misleading. Had I known the keys were smaller I would not have purchased it. Learning to play has so much to do with muscle memory, it just seems like a bad idea to practice on smaller keys.

On the upside, the soft-touch is nice, and impressive at this price point, though they are a little clacky but, again, considering the price (I paid $148) I found the clackiness to be acceptable. The fact that it runs on batteries is very cool in a portable. FYI, it does not come with an adapter, if desired it would need to be purchased separately. The light weight is also terrific.

So I left on a little trip with it, was dutifully practicing away, and discovered that there were several keys that made a weird and unpleasant sound. It was an electronic sound, so one might surmise that it was not the keys themselves that were defective but something in the brain of the thing. One does expect better quality control from Yamaha.

But it's Amazon, you know, so it was a zero risk purchase that is very little hassle to return, though it is enough of a hassle that I won't bother reordering. In all fairness, if my particular unit hadn't been defective I would have given it 3 stars. If this unit (worked, and) had full-size keys (sorry to keep harping on that, but I can't hep myself!) I'd give it a rockin' 4 stars (for the price).

So if the key size isn't an issue for you, and if you have better luck with the quality of the specific unit you receive, then for what you're spending you might really dig this little guy (in this, it sucks to be me!).

I have been learning the piano for about one year. I went on a 5 day trip and forgot a lot. In June I will be taking a 30 day trip and did not want to forget how to play. The piano is a bit big to pack in my van so I looked for an inexpensive way to practice. I liked this one because it was more simple, ie. does not contain a thousand different sounds (the ones it does have are very nice), light and compact. Also it is inexpensive. I was afraid that with only 61 keys I would not be able to play all the notes in my current play list. But you can actually move middle C around so I can play the songs with extra high notes, and play the songs with extra low notes! None of the songs in my current set requires both.

Now after playing a real piano, it just does not do it as far as a permanent full time instrument. It just does not sound the same, feel the same, or has the personality of a real piano. But for the price you just can not beat it. It will do a very good job of keeping me in practice when traveling. Be aware that it does not come with a power supply. You must get that separately.

4.0 out of 5 stars 標準的な練習用電子キーボード
Reviewed in Japan on January 18, 2023
