Editorial Reviews

"On The Edge is a rare jewel for fans of Frank Peretti. Not since This Present Darkness, have I come across such an in-depth work exposing the spiritual forces and invisible battle we all must face." - John L. Owens"As I mentor younger men and approach the subject of spiritual warfare, I always have them read On the Edge. In my opinion, there's no better book to wake them up to the reality of the evil one's work among us. The story is engaging, the theology is solid, and the applied truth of the Gospel is brilliantly unveiled in this excellent, relevant book. Thank you, Parker." - Regi Campbell, Radical Mentoring "When I got back from vacation I ordered 25 copies and have been giving them away to my friends.  It should be required reading for our generation." - Rev. John Yates, The Falls Church                                                                                                                                                                                  "For years I have been teaching discernment and critical thinking and never have I come across a work of fiction which so effectively helps to develop these faculties as On The Edge." - Ted Baehr, Movieguide

From the Author

On The Edge is the story of how God changes lives.  In 1993, at age 45, I took every mistake I or anyone I knew had ever made, and put them all in one character, an attorney named Richard Sullivan.  Thomas Nelson, the first publisher, said that the manuscript was "anointed", and they immediately agreed to publish it (with no agent). As soon as On The Edge came out, readers began telling us that the book had opened their eyes to the spiritual warfare that goes on continually, and in many cases it transformed their lives.  Now, all these years later, people still find me and email or leave a voice message that the story has deeply impacted how they view their family and friends. I certainly don't know exactly how demons and angels work in our lives, but On The Edge gives what must be a credible account. Mothers have given copies to their teenage daughters' friends.  Businessmen have given copies to their associates. One man read the story overnight and split up with his "other woman" the next morning, then called me in tears. How incredible that God would use a very, very imperfect real estate person, mentored for years by an Egyptian Christian parish priest (Michael Youssef), to touch the hearts of people all over the world. Only God can do that, and we give Him all the credit. And I hope that you enjoy the book and are as touched as I was in writing it.

I like the power of good fiction to transform, because it engages the whole person--intellect, emotion, spirit.

Fiction based on real truth can change a life, because the reader becomes caught up in the characters and the events, and is forced to consider issues and outcomes that go beyond everyday experiences and the common wisdom.

My wife and I live in Atlanta with the joys and challenges of a large family. I've been researching and writing about faith, government and business for over twenty-five years, including three novels, an anthology of short stories, and eight years of blog posts.

After attending London School of Economics as a Marshall Scholar (1968-70), I served for three years as the Communications and Intelligence Officer on the USS Wainwright (CG-28), based in Charleston, S.C. Since then I've logged a lot of years in all aspects of commercial and investment real estate, in both the U.S. and Russia. Parenting, grandparenting, and writing are my passions.
