Enjoy playing as much as my $3k guitar

Enjoy playing as much as my $3k guitar
I never write reviews but this guitar is worth writing a review for. I have bought a $3000 Martin just a month ago but I need a classical guitar that would be easier to master a song and it's notes and for the price of this guitar, it's feel, comfort, tone it goes beyond's it's price. I enjoy this guitar as much as I enjoy my 3k martin. I believe it is a guitar that should be on the 500-$600 price range. I'm very much in love with this fender and recommend it to anyone, not just kids. I'm an average 19 year old and it works perfectly for me. Very comfortable, great for beginners and even professionals. Highly recommended. Worth more than it's price.

Am very pleased with the size of the instrument, and that the nylon strings are pretty close to the fret board. Purchased for my Kindergartener granddaughter for Christmas and am hopeful that the size is just right for a few years use (maybe even longer) and that she will find it easier on her fingers being that she is a beginner. It has a very nice sound and seems to be a quality guitar. The bag that it came with is not padded at all, but has a handle on the side and also backpack straps for two ways to carry it. I was very pleased with how well it was packed for shipping. It seems to have arrived in perfect condition. I'll post more later once the kid has had a chance to take it for a spin.

It's a Fender! My 8-year-old grandson loves it. That said, it is a starter guitar. The 3/4 size and the nylon strings make learning a lot easier. Well constructed and comes with a gig bag. The gig bag provides minimal protection though as it's not padded. I bought a separate Fender gig bag. As for the guitar itself, the finish is flat -- not much protection for the wood. For a few bucks more I recommend the Jasmine by Takamine JS341. I bought this 3/4 guitar for my gal. Much prettier with a nice, thick finish and puts out a little more volume than the Fender. Both have adjustable truss rods running through the neck, an important feature. I own eleven guitars including brands like Takamine, Gibson and Taylor so I know a solid guitar when I see one. Both the Fender and the Jasmine are great for beginners but the Jasmine is one to cherish.

Solid build on this 3/4 nylon string guitar. 1 3/4 nut width makes it an easy transition for a steel string player. It has a satin finish instead of glossy. Feels light and easy to hold. The Fender carrying case that comes with the guitar has zero padding and is really just a cloth covering, so if you need more protection for your instrument, you'll have to get a hard shell or padded gig bag. The guitar benefited from fresh strings and stays in tune once it settles in. A good beginner's guitar that doesn't break the bank or the fingers.

Quality of the tuning mechanism is poor. When tuning for the first time, the A string was very tight versus the other strings. The gear seemed frozen and it felt like it was eventually going to break. Well it did! I tuned it out of the box and gave it to my dad for Father's Day. Upon visiting a few weeks later, and after the return period of course, he showed me that the A string tuning knob no longer worked. Since I can't return it, having missed the deadline by 5 days, I guess I need to take it to a repair shop. There does not seem to be any other options through Amazon to reach them about this problem. Overall the tone of the guitar is nice, but as a Fender, it is really disappointing to have such low quality material used in the tuning mechanism. If I had bought this from a music shop instead, I would have been able to exchange it or repair it for less hassle than I am now faced with.

This guitar is the perfect size and quality for my 10 year old. We bought her a youth guitar before but it never stayed in tune and was cheaply made. This is the Fender quality you expect but with a scaled down size. The classical strings make it easy for younger fingers and its a beautiful, sturdy instrument.

I bought this as a first guitar at 45. It has a great sound and once the strings stretched I rarely have to tune it. I keep this guitar upstairs and the other one downstairs so no matter where I am I can mess around with one or the other. I will admin that if I play my Les Paul a lot then the neck on this one feels sort of squat, but all in all this is a favorite to play. This guitar is great for kids, and beginners for sure. The nylon strings are a little easier on the fingers at first and have a really nice rich tone. I'm hoping one of my kids picks it up one day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this purchase
Reviewed in Canada on February 16, 2018
I've always wanted to play a guitar, but I couldn't get past the discomfort of steel strings. I made the decision to go with a classical and the nylon strings. Wow! The difference is like night and day.

I chose this model (the Fender MC-1, 3/4 size), and I'm very happy. It's a great starter guitar for someone like me who has relatively short fingers. I'll never be a professional player, but every time I pick up my MC-1, I smile to myself and realize I made the correct choice. Within days I was picking out a couple of classic folk songs simply by trial and error. This initial success has given me the confidence I needed to press on and tackle harder material and to sign up for lessons.

One of the cons in many reviews of guitars with nylon strings is that they stretch and take a lot longer to stabilize than steel strings. That's true initially. My MC-1 is requiring less and less tweaking each day. I've only had it for 5 days, and a week or so to maintain its tuning sounds about right.

This obviously isn't the best instrument for a professional musician, but for the average person wanting to learn the basics, I don't think you can go wrong. And, it's a Fender! If you want a good sounding instrument that's easy to play, I don't think you can beat a Fender MC-1.

This guitar looks great for its price and also has a decent sound and stays well in tune, though we suspect the Yamaha probably sounds a notch better at the same or even slightly cheaper price; However, we really love the wood - makes the guitar look more special than Yamaha; Our daughter is very proud of it! If it sounded that notch better / like the Yamaha CS40 it would get 5 stars; The guitar teacher was impressed as well.
