UPDATE (DEC 2019):It's been a year and a half and the keyboard functions literally the same as it has when it first came out of the box. The only noticeable change from when I first purchased the product is the spacebar wear that shows on every keyboard ever made since the spacebar is the most pressed key on a keyboard.Otherwise there has been zero issues with this keyboard since day one and it continues to be a fantastic value.ORIGINAL REVIEW (MAY 2018):Amazon Basics is starting to be a brand that I like the more I use. I needed an inexpensive keyboard to attach to my laptop to improve my overall desk set up on a budget and the keyboard did just that and surprised me.Pros:Key travel is great. All are very responsive and feel great when typing. At this price you're not looking for a mechanical keyboard, but this is much more comfortable to type at high volumes than my laptop (Acer V5).Awesome dedicated buttons - Calculator on the top right, MyComputer button in the middle, music player button, and dedicated volume buttons are all included as single-press actions. I have all of these features on my laptop, but I have to press a function key and this really makes my life easier!F + J + 9 (D Pad) keys have a pretty solid bump for getting right to work without having to look at the keyboard.Number lock + Caps Lock do have green lights to indicate when they're on. Backspace and shift keys seem to work well and I'm not worried about how well they'll hold up over time. SHIFT and ENTER seem small but they work just fine without slowing down typing speed or accuracy. D PAD size is great number pad is great and playing around with the calculator didn't slow me down at all.Cord is pretty long so you shoudln't have an issue keeping it connected to whatever you need.Cons:Upon further examination, the space bar seems and sounds a bit shaky. I'm worried about how well it'll hold up over time. Then again, I've had other keyboards/laptops with similar issues. Being such a cheap laptop I'm not expecting it to last forever I just wonder if that's going to be the first thing that goes.I wish it was a bit wider of a keyboard. It feels like a normal size I just feel ever so slightly cramped for a dedicated keyboard. The high gloss finish of the body shows dust and smudges, I wish it was more of a matte finish like the keys. The rubber "feet" are not very grippy I had to put a pad under my keyboard (check photos) to make sure it didn't slide around while typing (that may just be me typing too hard). The "feet" are a solid bar on the back so if you like to prop your keyboard up further (you shouldn't it's bad for you), then that'll be a con as well.Overall:Great value. Exactly what I needed. Great price.

I do a lot of programming and writing, so it's possible I am pickier than most. My complaint is mostly with the "action" of the keyboard.

First of all, if you're looking for a cheap chiclet style keyboard that works and you're not worried about quiet typing or the "feel" then this keyboard is great. Under Windows 7 it was recognized quickly and the media keys (excepting sound on my laptop) worked right out of the box. The advantage to this keyboard and what it really has going for it is it's heavier than keyboards that are similarly priced. I.e. the Logitech at this price point is too light. Light keyboard sound like a fantastic idea until you put them into practice and they slide or move when you type. Amazon's is the right weight to stay where you expect and respond to forceful typing (hey, it happens).

I've been looking for a keyboard replacement for my Apple Aluminum full keyboard. Even though it works in Windows/Linux just fine, the opposite placement of the "windows/command" key and the alt key make for annoying maneuvering. Its F-keys aren't full compatible either. So I decided to take a chance on this Amazon thin profile keyboard.

I won't be keeping it for my home computer as it's noisy in my opinion and the action feels "cheap." It's smooth and everything, and if I only used my computer for email/internet browsing/maybe some gaming I would absolutely keep it. But I'm extremely picky about the way it feels to type on a keyboard since I do it for 8-9 hours at my day job and 3-4 hours at home working on my own stuff.

For $10 or $11 you really can't go wrong with this if you want something that works great and is attractive (it's an elegant keyboard design compared to most clunky looking keyboards in this price range). The only thing I've noticed so far is that occasionally if you don't directly hit the key the stroke doesn't register. This hasn't been a problem for all the usual ones but I've missed hitting the Enter key on the number pad with my pinky when doing numeric entry a few times now. Not a large adjustment, but something to be aware of.

    EDIT/UPDATE:
Go figure. This is now my main keyboard at home. I miss my mac aluminum keyboard, don't get me wrong. But this keyboard has been working wonderfully for me after I got used to paying attention to the occasional key not registering (only occurs if you hit the outer edge, not directly on). For working on it, I've put it through about 50 hours of straight code and I'm very happy. My business partner already picked one up as well to replace his. I'm still wishing it had feet that could raise it, but it's not a dealbreaker. Wrists are at a comfortable level.

I'm using this keyboard for more than a week and I can safely say that this is a solid keyboard for those who don't want to spend on a mechanical keyboard.

    Keys
So this keyboard uses membrane keys. These are soft, comfortable and make very little sound. There is no clickiness as expected from membrane keys. The longer keys(like shift & space-bar) are a little wobbly but rest of the keys are stable and nothing to worry about. The keys are flat-top, not ergonomically shaped but they are comfortable.
It also has led indicators for Caps, Scroll & Num-Lock.
Extra keys: Media controls and dedicated Calculator key.

    Texture & Build
Some people are complaining of little flex in the middle. That is certainly not the case unless you push too hard around the mid of lower row keys. In regular typing scenarios, people don't even exert half of that much force on keys so it won't create any problem. The surface, however, is made of glossy plastic which looks good but retains fingerprints which might bother you.

    Value for Money
This keyboard is perfectly priced. Never will it feel that you overspent on this keyboard.
It is the best, that you can get for around 500 Rs.

    Rivals
In this price range, the only rival is Dell's KB216 which is nearly identical but has height adjustment flaps & slightly harder keys. So it depends on what you prefer.
I like softer keys, so I went with this one.

Overall, this is a solid keyboard, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for keyboards around 500 Rs price range.

This may not be the best chiclet style USB keyboard, but it's definitley the most afforable. Nice and comfortable to type on, one thing to note is that the spacing on the keys is a bit larger, so it may take a bit of getting used to. If you are used to laptop keyboards, though, this will be fine. Another thing is it is slightly loud to type on, even compared to other chiclet keyboards. Not that much of an issue, though. There is also a lack of spacing between the function keys, which can get a little annoying. Definitely a big bonus is having the media keys as function keys rather than taking up extra space on top of the keyboard. Keeps it nice and compact while still retaining full size.

Good layout and design. US/international keyboard (no need to reprogram keys). Wired USB (secure. Robust (I go through keyboards they way other people go through breakfast cereal). Large, centered character marking (easy to see the keys). A single, form-fit riser (no little legs, which always break). Inexpensive (no reason to spend £20 million for a keyboard). All you need to know is that the pound sign (£) is Alt-156. No need to ever use a UK keyboard again.
