- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2012This game consists of matching up tiles that contain a combination of letters to create a word. That word has to match one of the clues beneath the tiles. It is true that some of the words can be created without looking at the clues. By that same token, you'll think you know the word the clue refers to but you cannot make it work. Of course, sometimes, the word IS there but you can't see it yet.
I like this game. It's clear the game has undergone some editing but that does not get in the way of play or enjoyment. Others who have claimed that this game isn't varied or challenging enough might have a point; but if you aren't a bit a gamer and you are looking for a bit of word play, this game has some potential. And it's free! So, you might as well give it a go!
To give you an idea of my gaming history, I just purchased Angry Birds and I like it. Like Angry Birds, this game offers a simple concept that unexpectedly commands a lot of your attention. I have made the mistake of playing Jigsaw before bed and that served to awaken my mind. So, pick your play time with care!
What I like most about this game is that it reminds me that I actually know a little bit about a lot of things. I was even able to complete the section on Sports! It took some time and creativity but I did it! And I'm learning new things along the way too. I'd give you a "for instance" but that would only ruin your fun! Enjoy.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2014Anagrams and their derivatives are not my strongest puzzle types. And thus I may have bruised my forehead in the process of completing this game with those "duh" moments when I finally figure out a particular word. Why?
You're given a set of clues and a bank of word chunks. Your job is to pick the right word chunks that assemble to form a word that relates to the clue. Generally you work your way through the list, making a smaller and smaller pool of chunks, thus reducing possible combinations and making each subsequent clue easier to solve. Complete that list of clues and then move onto the next. Wash rinse and repeat.
Eventually you make your way though all the clue lists and you've completed the game. There is zero replay value for you, although others can play it after you. Some of the lists are easy and intuitive. Others are less so, including words that you may very well need to look up to solve. The best lists have a combination of difficulties, allowing you to use elimination as a means to solve the harder clues. Some lists took me less than a minute or so (touch paperwhite) while others took significantly longer. The forehead slaps came randomly when I was looking at just a few chunks remaining and simply couldn't figure out the obvious combination to create a common word.
That's the beauty of this game. Simply taking a common word and breaking it in uncommon/non-syllabic points for 2 or 3-letter chunks can make some words embarrassingly hard to recognize and reassemble. I like how it made me think when those words were encountered.
On the downside, you didn't have to identify which clue you were answering. So if the clue is 'pachyderm' and you find 'hippopotamus', it will not reject your answer...it simply places it next to the clue it actually answers. I would love to see the game modified so that you had to select the clue you were answering before assembling the chunks used to answer it. For ease of use it should automatically choose the next clue in the list, allowing you to work the list progressively without extra commands required. But it my word doesn't match the selected clue, reject it and require me to identify a different word or a different clue.
There is a hint function. The hint gives you the first chunk of the first unknown word on the list. So, for example, if the third word on the list is a 5-chunk word that relates to the hardest clue on the board, you're stuck with a hint for that word instead of something potentially more useful further down the list of clues. This makes the hint relatively not useful unless you have only a clue or two left, or if that chunk happens to help you on that first unsolved clue.
My biggest gripe is the disparate difficulty across the categories. I would expect a better handle on progressive difficulty than I think was intended within the groupings provided. But at the price, it's hard to complain. This game is identical to Jigsaw Words Volume 2, except for the content. Identical structure. New content.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2011I have at least a dozen games for my Kindle, and this is the best one yet. I like it because it uses only the 5-way button and does not require typing text on the tiny keyboard. The letters on my keys are wearing off from typing, so I avoid it if I can.
The game itself is fun and challenging. There are 10 catagories of puzzles, each with 10 puzzles that contain 10 words you need to find. Each word is broken down into 2, 3 or 4 groups of letters. The word "elephant," for example, might be on the board as {ele} {ph} {ant}. Your job is to find those groups of letters among all the others and put them together based on the clue you are given. You can get a hint for each word, but once you get a hint, you must solve that word before getting another hint. The best strategy is to find the easier words first, as there are some very difficult words that make the game challenging.
This is a game that you can leave and come back to easily, which makes it great if you have just a few minutes to kill. For the price of "free" this is a no-brainer, and I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2012I really enjoyed these puzzles on my basic Kindle. I am an older adult, and it took me a couple of tries to figure out, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. The puzzles generally start out easier and progress to more difficult within each category. Sometimes a puzzle I find easy might be difficult for someone not familiar with certain categories. Conversely, an easy topic for you might be difficult for me. Don't let that scare you. If you can find the longer words first, it makes it a little easier, most of the time. Sometimes I begin by scanning the puzzle for possible words before I read the clues, so I have a good start. I am an English teacher and there were two or three of the more difficult words near the end that I hadn't heard before, but a puzzle wouldn't be fun if it wasn't challenging. The author included a fun fact related to the category after each puzzle is completed. I have version 1 and 2. I will get any new versions that become available.
