I have been looking for a device like this to manage my audio playing capability from my cell phone or tablet. I got the device a week back and when I plugged it in the reception was horrible and the range was barely 10ft with no obstructions. Beyond that 10 ft. there was lot of pauses, breaks, static. I got frustrated and started reading reviews to figure out if anybody else had any issues and how they solved it and I found one review where the reviewer has mentioned that there are two metallic plates inside the device housing that is meant to add weight for stability and that caused the interference with the signal but, I don't think that is the case, because I tried removing the metal plates and didn't make any difference. Once I did the below mod and figured the metal plates were not the culprits. In any case for the other reviewer that may be the case and not going to discount him/her on that. Anyway here is what I found and what did to make a it a super powerful device with ultimate reception.

***** Do this at your own risk and if you are handy with bit of gadget knowledge ****

1. Unscrewed the antenna from the back of the device to install a longer antenna and I did find a Wi-Fi router antenna in my stash and unfortunately it did not make any difference.

Here is the problem: The antenna base on the device should have a copper pin like protrusion in the center to get inserted into the actual antenna that is screwed in. The copper or gold plated pin was missing and I noticed that there was a hole instead and I checked my Wi-Fi and other antenna bases and they have a pin to sit into the antenna.

2. Took a pure copper wire that I used for my sons school project and etched of the insulation and cut a 1.

After owning the Sony HWS-BTA2W for almost a year (used it exclusively for TV at night - with the Sony Ericsson MW600 as receiver), I was ready to take things to a whole new level in the BT dept. My goal was to get something with a better range/stronger signal and I hoped very much to find something with less delay - the HWS-BTA2W suffers from a delay of (what seems like about) 1/4 second. After much research and many reviews read, I was pretty sure I found what I was looking for... now a week later after getting my Miccus Home RTX, I can quite comfortably say that it completely smokes the Sony in every way imaginable. It sounds MUCH better, has about half the delay (1/8 second by my estimate) and I have not been able (and I sure tried) to lose a signal in a 1200 square foot 2-story apartment... even when standing directly in front of a (running) 1100 watt microwave! The Sony sure couldn't do that.. or even make it down the hallway to the john. Maybe Sony should have put an antenna on the HWS-BTA2W.. that would have been a start.

In addition (as if the above wasn't enough) the Home RTX feels like a very solid piece of equipment - with buttons that feel strong, durable and dependable. And the matte finish on the body (product shots above appear glossy, but mine is a wonderful matte) is a pleasure to touch.

Now for the delay stuff for anyone interesting in delay and TV viewing:

If you are new to Bluetooth and/or interested in using BT for TV, here are a couple notes from a veteran (a year makes me one, right?) [1] All A2DP Bluetooth has some delay - as audio is converted through software in the BT device transmitting it. [2] It appears that some brands/models do this better than others.

PROS:

I've used several bluetooth transmitters and receivers over the past few years (including equipment made by some famous brand names like Sony and Blackberry) and this is the first tool which really has the solid range which I need. The specs for the range which are listed in the literature for this device are conservative, I believe. The range will always depend on the sensitivity of the bluetooth receiver, plus the power of the transmitter. In this case, Miccus has made sure that you get 200 feet of transmission range and 45 feet of receiving range when it is paired the weakest A2DP devices out there, and factoring in a wall/floor or two. You do not need to be in the line of sight with the device.

The Blubridge Home has a suave design. Those three circles you see on the front are buttons. You press and hold the middle button for three seconds to turn the tool on or off. Once it is on, you can press and hold either the Tx button (left) or Rx button (right) to pair with a foreign bluetooth device. It uses standard bluetooth blink colors (flashes blue and red when pairing, solid blue when connected and receiving, solid red when connected for transmission, flashing red or flashing blue when it is searching for its connection). The lights are in a line inside the case and shine through subtly through the holes and jacks in the back, and the pair of slits along the middle edge of the front.

It is powered by USB. It has a mini-usb jack for that purpose in the housing just below the antenna.

Included in the package are an AC adapter which delivers power to a standard USB jack, a cable which goes from two RCA plugs to one 1/8th inch audio plug, and a male to male 1/8th inch audio cord about a foot long.
