Original Order: after looking at similar items from other sellers i was concerned for the price i may end up with something made out of plastic. great idea for a recessed can conversion from a 30w incandescent flood to a gu-10 50w halogen in a gimbal replacement trim without any rewiring or modification to the existing 4" insulation rated can.
Update 7/24/13: ordered two more pair of these and the ones I got this time are porcelain inside the socket and plastic on the outside. you win some, you lose some.
Update 12/21/13: I noticed the light bulbs were sitting at an odd angle so i tried to remove them. Since the last sets I had ordered were made of plastic on the outside they melted and the socket fell down. I posted some customer photos (should be at right above the customer review summaries). At this point i have rated it one (1) star. I have since ordered some that are

These plastic kind will hold up to LEDs but don't even consider them for incandescent/halogen.
