I would have rated this higher before I moved to Creative Cloud. With Adobe's new licensing model, it doesn't really make sense to purchase CS6 anymore, unless this is the only version you are planning to get, and never do upgrades. In which case, get this. It's still a great program and will serve you well for a very long time.
But - if your are likely to want or need upgrades, or you are likely to want or need to use other programs from Adobe, you will need to move to their Creative Cloud program. Licenses are on a subscription basis and for a relatively (I use the term loosely here) reasonable price, you end up with access to all of the Adobe programs with regular updates. The caveat is that you don't have a perpetual license for any of them except Lightroom (this is an exception - CC at least as of mid 2013 is giving a perpetual license for Lightroom 5). If you stop paying, you still have all of your files and all your data, but you don't have the programs to edit them. Adobe throws in some online storage to help allow for collaborative projects or sharing your work, and also some web site tools to promote your work.
It's not so much a question of deciding about Photoshop. If your are serious about photo post-processing, there's not anything else that offers the level of capability and the support network out there, but it's a question of purchasing a perpetual license copy of CS6 or a subscription of CC. (There will not be a CS7 - CC will be the only future model supported according to Adobe.)
I do like the features hate the learning curve that jumping in to this requires.
As it has been pointed out, I was incorrect as the program now being a web based program, had I not made the investment back a couple years ago I would seriously consider the newer version of PS. Yes I did receive the camera raw update and hope that support such as this will carry on for a good many years more. Happy clicking!!
I opened and installed the program without any problems. There is a learning curve, but quickly learned that there were training video's that helped.
The product seems to have some great new features that I'll be exploring and learning how to use. I think it will truly come in handy for all our companies graphics needs once I learn how to use it.
