There are some details I did not like about the way this guitar came out of the box, for example, the rosewood fingerboard was extremely dry, and that did surprise me since its suposed to be a new guitar, and I also found some imperfections and even scratches on the body and neck as well, also one volume knobe is uneven and badly installed (I easily corrected this myself but still wonder why did they did not do that when a quiality control is suposed to be done), it is like they did not really give a f**** about anything when manufacturing this guitar, the neck union was awfully worked, and underneath the pickguard I found a lot of reamains of wood pieces from when they drilled it to place the pickguard (and did not even clean the surface before putting the pickguard in the place), and that with the presion of the pickguard itself took away some of the paint and harmed the wood mainly this are stetic problem but when you purchase a new guitar you expect quality specially on a Gibson, anyway it sounds amazing and with a little job out of the box, it will rock, I changed my opinion from giving it 4 stars

This guitar is a great value, in my opinion. All I had to do was lower the action a bit a tune it up. The mini humbuckers sound impressive, with a lot of articulation and clarity. All hardware and tuning machines were top quality, as was expected. My only minor gripe was that the fret ends could have been finished a bit more professionally; they didn't scratch or cut, but they felt a wee bit rough to me, although the frets were well done aside from that. I can certainly polish out the fret ends myself. Not a big deal for me.

This is my 5th Gibson SG, and I really like all of them. I only acquired my first one 3 years ago, as I used to prefer Les Pauls, but now I'm a big fan due to the weight and access to the neck and upper frets. The block inlays are small but nice, and the minimalist paint jobs suits me just fine. I don't like to pay a fortune for fancy wood and paint and bindings, when they don't add to the playability or sound of the guitar. This is a good, clean looking guitar, with terrific tone and it plays very smoothly for me. I like it very much.

It says Gibson. Plays well, but needed some work out the box. The frets as other have stated, are not polished and were extremely gritty out the box. Easily fixed and now polished to buttery smoothness. My rosewood fretboard was very dry and light colored. Again easily fixed with some fretdoctor oil and now looks as it should. Pickups were installed at a horrific angle, fixed by screwdriver and tone is quite good through my blues junior. The gluing at the neck joint was sloppy and the seam is very evident, but purely cosmetic. Also the pick guard is creme, not white, but I already noticed that when researching the guitar before purchase

But. It says Gibson, and I wanted something to put p90'S into down the road. Expect to do a little work and it'll play great. Worth the price IMHO.

I've always been a fan of mini himbuckers and SG's. I sold a faded with 490's in it last year and really misse having an SG - I just received this one a few days ago and it's a really nice guitar. Tons of resonance and a nice high end shimmer thanks to the mini's. As with any guitar it needed a proper set up - suffered from a badly cut nut so it wouldn't stay in tune - all totally fixable and expected. All in all it's a fab guitar. I see the descriptions stating a mahogany neck - it isn't - it's a maple neck - which adds to that high end I speak of - I like it - but fanatics should know it's not mahogany! I was also expecting to have to rip out the circuit board wiring thang but pleasantly surprised to find a decent point to point wiring job under the hood. It crackled when you ran your finger over the back cover plate - so I had my luthier put some copper shielding tape on there - grounded by the mounting screw for the cover plate - problem solved. Too much fussing around you say? Not for 700.00 bucks it isn't. If this were a 4000.00 custom shop model I might gripe but.......It's just the reality of buying guitars. They all need a little love to be just right.

I got this for $200 off brand new, so I was a bit skeptical, but amazon has a great return policy so really wasn't much of a risk. Showed up flawless, besides the usual stuff of shipping guitars and having them stored in different truck and warehouse of differing temperatures so it needs a setup as do most guitars bought online. Overall a really cool SG made in Nashville and a decent price.

It is a 3 star only because of the strings and I'm not really a fan of the solid neck and body unibody? I'm used to Fender with the neck separate from the body, only fear is humidity and longtime give between neck and body? and things of nature.
It plays nice has a nice sound, to me, the strings are a little lite to me, but not a problem to change those out, especially the G no pun string.
I think some heavier strings could really punch up those tones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vielseitige Gitarre
Reviewed in Germany on November 20, 2017
