I bought these to replace of a set of solo hd's after hearing them in the store. They are the best sounding beats with a coverage of the mids and highs much more so than the solo and the Studio set which I also own. The bass is great on the Mixr's but not overpowering like the solo or the studios which are mega bass when you compare directly. I always start with the mixrs and they are the one I take with me to listen casually when I travel. When I am at home and am listening to music or gaming I use the solo's because of the comfort. The Studio's just collect dust now. The Pro's are in a different league and only really shine when amplified.

    Pro's:
Best sound of the beats series. Good design of the ear tilting for ease of removing one side away from ear. Great for short term listening. My first set, mind you, that I always grab from the arsenal for short listening periods. The sound truly is a huge step up when listening. Example: I had the mixr's on listening to music on my laptop on the sofa at home and heard a song I wanted to share with the wife. There are two headphone ports on the PC she grabbed the solo's and put them on. She was rockin out and I said here listen to my new mixr's. SHe put them on and her eyes pooped out of her head in disbelief of the sound performance increase. Her comment was these ones are mine now.

    Cons:
They are too tight. *see revision below. They start to hurt after longs periods of use. The comfort goes to the solo and studios.

    Conclusion:
It seems to me that each set has it's own niche for different usage and all have substantially different sound. If you want the best sound the mixr's are it. If you have a skinny head you may not have as big a problem as I have. I am a 6' 200 pound man. I would say that the headphones are good for about an hour then I am motivated to grab the solo's for continued listening.

    Revision about Comfort:
I have put these headphones on a large sofa arm to stretch the head band. To my surprise IT WORKS! IT WORKS WELL. It took a few days of using them then keeping them stretched really good overnight and after a few days they are quite comfortable and have stretched out and seem to be staying that way. Now five star headphones. They are all I use and all I would want in a headphone. now.

I'm writing this review after 1 year of using it. After 1 year of usage, I have learn a few things about how to use this in order to get the most out of it.

    Sound:
Audio fidelity - Good, as in no distortion at high volume.
Clarity - Depends on whether I am listening to MP3s or FLAC. I can hear the difference. MP3s sound less expansive and more "funneled". With FLAC, the clarity is definitely discernible.
Bass - Not bassy at all. Sounds flat actually.

    Durability:
After 1 year of usage, they are still working.

    Comfort:
There's actually a way to wear them without the clamp-down discomfort. The clamp-down discomfort is caused by the headband either slipping forward or backward, thereby increasing the pressure on the earcups. If the headband sits directly on your head, then the pressure is equally distributed across all 3 points of contact and your ears won't get so much pressure.

    Value for money:
I know a lot of folks think it is over-priced. I bought this in December 2012 for $229.99. At that time, there wasn't a lot of options for light-weight headphones with Android compatibility. Nowadays, there are plenty of options. So if I am shopping for a pair today, I can't say for sure I will still pick this. But I will say that I did get my money's worth.

If it helps to know, the music that I listened to using this headphone include The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Daft Punk, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Cream, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Underworld and The Chemical Brothers. All of them remastered versions released after 2003.

I really love these. I will admit when you first get them they can be a little snug on the ear. After a few uses though I no longer have any issues with them. The sound quality is just amazing. You can hear things in the music that you just don;t pick up with other headphones I have tried. The packaging....well prepared to be impressed! You will really feel special when you get this pair of headphones.

If your a person who likes music then Beats is for you. But not just any ol Beats headphones cause I had my experience with every over ear headphone and the Mixr is at the top! The solos had too much bass. The studios didn't have enough bass. The pros had little to no bass but you heard the other songs very clear and clean! The Mixr is all of those together, in my eye. They don't fit right like most reviewers may say it's a snug fit but not tight. They may bother your ears after a use for about an hour or so but its not bad. They are light weight, and the black is the best color scheme! I had another pair of the Mixrs, but was careless with them and left them on the roof of my car and drove off lol. If the price is too high then just look for used ones. I bought a used pair for around 100 and was used once. The previous owner just didn't like them. They are def a must buy!

These are Beats second best sounding headphones, the first are the Solo 2's, but this is Beats most fun! The pounding bass, clear highs really liven in up any song. These just make listening to music fun, even old songs you have heard 100 times sounds energizer by the Mixr. Are they the most accurate sounding headphone? Nope! Boosted bass and slight treble increases, but darn they just get you going. They are very well built and there is a bit of clamping pressure that will fade a bit over time, but it adds to the sound isolation. Also, these are the most efficient headphone I have ever owned. Man these get loud with almost no power! Any device can make these things rock. If you are looking to buy a pair of durable, good looking headphones that sound great I would give these a chance. If you want a bit tamer version that is a bit more comfortable, try the Solo 2.

first of all, best £175.99 i ever spent, these headphones are what its all about!

a lot of people talk down on beats and say you only pay for the brand and there are way better headphones out there and there probably is, but you wont find a better looking pair of headphones anywhere else!
they look awesome, they are a very sexy looking pair of beats

the sound quality is absolutely outstanding! i owned a pair of solo HDs and i thought they were amazing but now i dont know how i ever could of thought they sounded good compared to the mixrs, arrived saturday and as soon as i took them out of the box and put them on my head you just know you spent your money well

i was worried about them not sounding all to different from the solo HDs or not sounding all that great and spending 176 on them but i have absolutely no regrets, these are f*****g awesome! pricey but totally worth it!

dont let anyone talk bad on them saying its just the brand blah blah they either cant afford beats or just dont like them, but beleive me these are awesome! music is so clear and loud
