This low noise broad band pre-amp AT-PAA28 is designed to boost weak TV signals to compensate the signal loss of long running cable and noise of the receivers, increasing the Signal /Noise level in the whole system, and improving image quality and stability. It rejects FM signal and LTE 4G signal (700MHz up)

Read Notes Before Buying Any Pre-Amps:

TV signals are very complicated and different from location to location. Do some research on TVFOOL, and get basic channel/signal information of your location before buying an pre-amp.

Scenarios and results you may get:

1. Weak signal only (You may see great results using this Pre-Amp, EASY)

If your location are far from TV stations or you can get very weak signal even by a high gain antenna. Basic setup as per instructions is sufficient.

2. Some directions have strong signals and some directions have weak signals.(You may see good results when tuning the antenna system well, EASY-ADVANCED)

Try to point the antenna (Single antenna system) to the weakest stations, in this way more weak signals and less strong signals are received in the system. If multi-antenna system is used, use higher gain antenna to get weak channels and connect to the amplifier, and low gain antenna to get strong channels without amplification. Signal combiner may be required to get best results.

3. Weak signals among lots of strong signals and are coming from the same direction(Complicated and special setup may be required to get weak channels extracted, ADVANCED)

Strong signal may overload Pre-amplifier or your TV receiver, thus losing channels that you may get without a Pre-amp.

Weak signals may have to be separated from main stream before feeding into this pre-amp, then can be combined back to the main stream. Lots of tuning and testing may be required due to complicated signal strength and frequency distributions.

In scenario 2 & 3, advanced setup skills, as well as additional components may be required to get better results.

The Antra AT-PAA28 antenna pre-amp works great !!! It attaches directly to the antenna and the power is fed through the coax line from the tv area. It was very easy to connect to a large VHF-UHF Winegard antenna mounted in my attic, which was used extensively before cable tv, and now used extensively for OTA viewing. In addition to the pre-amp or antenna signal boost benefit, it also contains an LTE 4G filter, to eliminate high use communication interference such as from cell tower transmitters, and other RF interference. Everyone watching OTA stations, needs one of these pre-amps connected to their antenna, for maximum number of channels, and virtually no unwanted pixilation or tv screen freezes, from weak OTA reception using a small antenna. I am about 55 miles from the stations, with a small range about half way between partially blocking the line sight. I have a large directional antenna which should give good signal at this range, but the signal is marginal. My TV seemed to work almost all the time, but my HomerunHD would not do anything but freeze up, and could barely find any channels. According to the signal meter on my TV adding this did barely anything 68% to 70%. I have not seen any signal losses since though, and can pick up a few channels I could not before. The HomerunHD saw vast improvement however from about 20% to 88% and now I can get all the channels. The HomerunHD obviously needs a stronger signal than my TV, though I don't know why. The amplifier boosted the signal sufficiently and did not seem to add significant noise which was my biggest concern with using an amp. Amplifying a weak noising signal can make it worse. It also allows me to split the line without too much loss. I tried adjusting the gain, but found I need the maximum gain to keep my signal. If the power goes out, the signal to the TV does not make it thru the amp (tested by disconnecting the injector power).

Installation was pretty easy. The amp is mounted to the antenna pole with a zip tie (I used a galvanized wire, since the zip tie will rot in the sun over time). You will need a short wire (2-3ft) to go from the antenna to the input on the amp. The original wire to the antenna will now go to the output side of the amp. The unit is not supposed to be mounted on the antenna itself as it would disturb its effectiveness.
The power runs up the antenna wire so you don't have to run another, or drill another hole in your roof. The power injector is inserted between your splitter/TV and the antenna. It would have been nice to have the short wire and a coupler to insert the two parts.

It is working as expected, and assuming it continues to do so, I would recommend it.

Nice unit, it's specifications suited my needs perfectly and the price was right. I suppose it happens, the brand new product doesn't work out of the box. I had a fair signal until I plugged it in, then I had no signal at all. (Yes, I hooked it up correctly.) Sort of like the opposite of an amplifier.

If you buy one, I hope you have better luck.

Highest praise for Amazon's handling of the return, though. I think they credited my credit card before the returned item even arrived. I went to Home Depot and bought a GE product instead. Happy with that.

Installed easily to a quad bowtie antenna on a 20ft pole. Worked great on weak Tampa stations 50 miles away. Had a lighting strike one block away and the amp died, the power supply was ok, nothing else in our house or houses around us were damaged just the amp. If you use this amp I would put surge suppression on the input and output of the amp and put in a grounded metal or Mu-metal box on the pole.

I have about a thirty foot cable run from my rooftop antenna to the television, and reception has been spotty, even though I'm only ten miles from the transmitters. This unit seemed to help at first, but proved useless. The problem may be some obstruction to the signal, not the amplifier, but the result is that I am no better off than before. I then replaced the antenna with a much larger one, and got marginally better results. I love free antenna tv, and will not pay the cable bills...........

This allowed my outside antenna to pick up 15 more channels. Now I pick up 45 channels.
This also improved signal on all weak stations.
I would highly recommend it.
Please note that you will need to be competent in antenna wiring and electrical to make this system work, as included directions are rather poor.
If you hire a person familiar with antenna wiring this should be know problem.
