Ed Drury is a multi instrumentalist, composer, teacher, instrument maker and author. Classically trained as a trumpeter, Ed traded his trumpet for an electric guitar and was a well known side man and session musician on the west coast for the better part of the 1970's. In 1976, growing tired of road life, Ed returned to school and took an associate degree in Respiratory Care. For more than ten years, music took a back seat while he branched into various roles in health care. He quit his hospital job in 1989 to pursue his first love, the study of various traditional music forms from around the world. Today he combines his experience with classical music and his love for traditional music forms by composing music inspired by his world travels and training as a healer.

Studying with almost anyone who will accept him as a student, Ed attempts to finance his quest through teaching, writing and performing. Ed has studied with Aboriginal didjeridu master David Blanasi and world musician Stephen Kent.

Ed lives in Portland Oregon where he teaches, performs and records. Ed has performed with Francis Firebrace-Jones, a Yorti Yorti story teller, with Australian Folk Musician and songwriter Clancey Dunn, Jawighe, Michael Stirling, Jawihge, Randy Graves, Stephen Kent, Dave Crowder and Land of the Blind.

What I love about Drury's books the most is the writing is not forced. I can tell the author loves this series and the characters. I often wonder if he based them on people he knows in real life. The story is magical. I love the imagery and descriptions. If I could move to the Cove, I'd have my bag packed in a second! I also admire the way Ed Drury is able to include different realms and difficult sci-fi concoctions and make them believable - no easy feat! I'm not a huge science-fiction fan, but Drury is slowly changing my mind about this genre.

There are many aspects of this book (and the previous one in the series) that will appeal to all readers. It's one of those precious gems that has a little something for everyone: action, adventure, love, morals, education, good guys, bad guys, hate, and greed. I know I'm leaving something out, so grab a copy and read it for yourself. Every person will get something different from this story.

I am happy to report that from the ending of the book, I can tell there will be a third! YAY! Mr. Drury, I do hope you're busy writing! I miss my friends already and can't wait to hear more from them again.

The Panther Queen by Ed Drury is a worthy sequel in The Whale Whisperer's Saga. Once again Mr. Drury has redefined the sci-fi genre with his unique blend of action, thinking, dialogue, and mental interaction between humans and animals. This book makes you think about what could be and why things are they way they are, but does so in a free flowing fun style that keeps you turning pages and wondering what is going to happen next. This is definitely not a formulaic story and at times the direction it turns is delightfully surprising.

This book fills in some unanswered questions from the first of the series. I would recommend beginning the story with the first book as the concepts of the mental interactions are more described and complete. Perhaps a short synopsis of the first book would give readers an edge on some of the details carried on in this second part of the story. Needless to say, the story-line grabs you and doesn't let go until the end which comes too soon and again leaves you wondering what's next.

Good character development continues and we see what makes them tick, so to speak. The first book was a gem and this one is too, and would benefit from some final polishing and editing which I now understand is in progress. I love the concepts that Mr. Drury has brought out as well as the genuine characters that he makes you love or hate. The Panther Queen is a fun read and I'm waiting for the next sequel.

While imparting this wisdom, it is still a sweet story of love, positiveness and courage.

Book two in the Whale Whisperers series is as wonderful as the first book. In this installment, the reader delves deeper into the culture of the Whale Whisperers and learns more about their beliefs and the gifts they possess.

Again the author creates an enchanting tale that is hard to put down.I would love to visit the cove and swim with the ancestors!

I can't wait to read the third book. I highly recommend this book!

Just what you needed after being captivated by the first book. You need this one so you can find out what happens after the first adventure, the author certainly knows how to keep you hanging on. In parts I did feel it could be 'chunked' down a bit but that did not stop me enjoying the story and wanting to keep reading it. I loved the way it was a 'timeless' story and it could be set in any time ie in the now or in the future. There are lots of things that happen in this book that makes think about us and the planet we live on. I don't want to give anything away so won't go into details but I am looking forward to reading more books by Ed Drury.
