“People would look at me and instinctively know something was deeply wrong. I felt and looked like the life had been sucked out of me.”
Danny was just your regular London city bloke—until his health mysteriously went straight down the toilet. He did what any normal person would do: he went to see a doctor. And another doctor, and another, followed by tons of specialists. He asked them all the same question: Why? Why did his back hurt so much that he couldn’t even bend down to pick up his baby daughter? Why did he have ten days of heartburn if he ate anything besides salad? Why were his mind and body crumbling? Why was he so sick his life was falling apart?
Over and over again, Danny was given fistfuls of drugs and no answers. Fed up with this, he decided to take charge of his own health and his own destiny. He opened the door and crossed the threshold into the mysterious world of alternative healing. Danny swore that he would try everything until he got his health back.
This book is the chronicle of Danny’s adventures in the world of alternative healing. With wry humor, his search brings us through his first Alexander Technique session, his first herbal parasite cleanse, and his visits to a practitioner known only as ‘the muscle tester dude’.
The pieces of the puzzle finally come together when Danny finds the online forums where the mercury toxic folks hang out. Discovering the many and varied symptoms of mercury poisoning—an exact mirror of his own health problems—it becomes blindingly obvious that he has mercury poisoning too.
Danny embarks on mercury detox using the Cutler protocol, along with herbal cleanses and special diets. He climbs the long ladder out of mercury hell, and back into the land of the living. A changed man, glad to be alive, he shares his roadmap back to health so that others can find their way too.

My name is Danny and my nickname is Sunshine. Most people on-line from the mercury forums know me as Sunshine, but I answer to either. I am the author of The Mercury Diaries. I wrote the book after I recovered my health from mercury poisoning. It details my horrendous health crash and my slow rise back up to the land of the living again. In it I discuss all the different things I did to recover my health. I did a lot off different things too!

I talk about my chelation rounds, my herbal cleanses, how I repaired my adrenal glands, thyroid glands and everything else that I got involved in to support my body. I am very much involved in my own health. I rarely see doctors any more. Instead I rely on myself and my own capability to learn and understand each health problem I encounter. Holistic healthcare is my specialist subject and I do a lot of herbs!

To remove the mercury from my body I chelate using the Cutler protocol. I use small controlled dosages of chelators (things that pick up and remove mercury) to pick up the mercury and escort it out of my body. I usually do 3 days on round taking the chelator every two and a half hours, even waking at night to take the capsules. I chelate using ALA only. I am a low doser and I only tolerate very low dosages of ALA. Anything higher than my tolerance level - blows my brain to kingdom come!

Sometimes when I chelate the mercury out I feel great and I’m full of life and energy. Sometimes it’s not so much fun and I feel lousy and I must take extra care of myself.

I work in London and have done my whole life. I am a broker in the city. I commute in from Hertfordshire, which is 22 miles outside central London. I live in a little town in the countryside just inside the M25 Motorway. I am happily married and have two wonderful kids.

I order from amazon every month....many, many items and I rarely do reviews. But, this book written by a man named Daniel Forsyth is superb!
Daniel explains his really long detox from mercury illness and it is incredible how ill he was. He explains EVERYTHING he did to get better and in great detail. I couldn't put the book down. I couldn't wait to see how it turned out for him and to see if he seems to know what he's talking about and if there is any ramifications for me in his book. The book is like a novel and very well written about his life to his current "ripe old age" of 37. In addition, Daniel uses humor as he tells the story of him as a very sick, toxic, man, husband and father. It is quite an amazing story! Daniel is VERY serious about his road to recovery and all he encountered along the way. He leaves the reader with SO MUCH information (I took copious notes) about how each of us can recover, as well. I am so grateful to Daniel for helping to pave the way for me to get better. I had already done pretty extensive reading a research to get started detoxing, such as (4 months ago) having 9 amalgam fillings removed with a CERTIFIED BIOLOGICAL DENTIST(very important)...which was one of the things Daniel didn't know to do, at the time. Because of Daniel's book, I now know many other things to do to help myself detox both my brain and my body. He gives references for every book he read of the expert's advice...every product he took, every procedure he did and every result he obtained. He discusses his hair test and even printed it in his book, discussing it in detail. He used the Andrew Cutler Protocol and discusses it at length. It's step-by-step...the good, the bad and the ugly. He tells "how" he became mercury toxic and if you're reading this and think this can't be you, think again. All of us on planet earth have some degree of toxicity from our environment. As for mercury, itself (only one of MANY toxins but perhaps the most frightening)....it's in the air, from the mining of coal, it's in our oceans, it's in seafood, it's in the vaccinations of our precious little babies, for heavens sake! And, in flu shots and other vaccinations we are "urged" to have. And, mothers pass it on to their fetuses, from their own mercury contaminated bodies. It's in our contact-lens solutions. And, last but not LEAST, it's in our amalgam (50% mercury) dental fillings. And, every time we chew the mercury vapor is absorbed by our bodily tissues and most of all, our BRAIN! No wonder Alzheimer's Disease is rampant in our time. Seems like there's a "memory care facility" on every corner these days. BIG BUSINESS!!! How's your thinking...a bit (or more) "foggy? I could go on and on....But, Daniel Forsyth says it all. Daniel wants to help. He wants to help anybody and everybody heal from mercury toxicity and other types of toxicity. You would be doing yourself (or someone you care about) a HUGE favor to buy this book. It, truly says it all. And for the record, I do not know the author...at all. Don't know anyone one who knows Daniel. He lives in the UK. But, he's my hero, for sure. Buy his book.....

I hesitated buying this book, since I was not interested in someone's emotional outpouring of their illness and difficulties. I was completely wrong. Although it is titled "diaries" and "a memoir" - it really is a detailed roadmap of the author's journey to recovery, with specific signposts and markers.

The author describes his chronology from illness to wellness in detail - giving information on what helped and how he did it. He detailes the what, the how, the when, how often, how long, and all the reactions. The fact that the writer was able to keep such meticulous notes while mercury toxic is amazing. He was rigorous in changing only one treatment, or dosage at time, and recording the responses and symptoms in detail, which is very helpful for those trying to figure out their own path to recovery. This book also made clear how determined and disciplined I may need to be to regain my health. Like an expeditionary journal of someone who's made it to the South Pole, if you were interested in reaching the South Pole, you would absolutely want to read their expedition journal.

His experience a product of all that he has learned through extensive research and he shares with his readers the results of his hard work. This book will save me hundreds of hours of internet searching. He also offers helpful resources, books, forums and other tips he has learned along the way either from experience or from others. There is helpful content on a vast range of health topics from detoxing, to digestive health, heartburn, back pain, adrenal issues, thyroid issues, food sensitivies, dry brushing, Cutler's chelation protocol, saunas, castor oil, heart issues, cat allergy, colon health, the list goes on. This book was greatly helpful on a multiple of levels: understanding the rigor and work required in getting better, understanding the body as a system, and then detailed information on how to implement various techniques/protocols that we are often advised to do, but don't get all the information on the reactions that you might experience as a result.

Mr Forsyth's "Mercury Diaries" helped make the Cutler detox protocal much more assessible. I read this book before reading Cutler's "Amalgam Illness", and "Mercury Diaries" makes Cutler's work much less opaque. Despite having attended a competitive engineering college and having a natural interest in biochemistry, I found Cutler's book overwhelming without a sense of where to start.

It is clear that the author wrote this with the primary intent of helping others recover. And I am ever grateful for his abundant generosity in sharing this information and personal experience.

I have mercury poisoning from 10 amalgam fillings I had put in about 5 years ago. Within about 6 months, I developed food sensitives and felt like I was seriously dying. I then developed mono and my life has been a roller coaster ride through hell ever since. As I read this book, I was amazed at how similar my symptoms were, etc. This book covers a ton of good references to look into saving a lot of time researching online. Also you learn a lot from the author on what worked for him and what not to do.

My hatred for doctors and dentists can't even be put into words the amount of grief they have put me through. The worst swear words don't even begin to describe how I feel about them. As the author expressed his feelings toward our medical establishment, I totally agree with him. Dentist that still put this s#%& in people's mouth should be banned from practice, have their eyeballs gouged out, fill their teeth full of mercury, and drop them off in Siberia out in the wilderness. Doctors that are ignorant on this subject should be offered the same.

Anyways, I can't wait to get through chelation so I can get my life back again that my ignorant and stupid doctors took from me.

It infuriates me that others especially little kids get this crap put into them without them knowing about it whether it would be amalgam fillings, vaccines, or heavy metals inherited from their mom. Our medical establishment including the ADA and FDA is a money sucking scam.

5.0 out of 5 stars At first I did not believe much about what I read, but later .....
Reviewed in Spain on July 3, 2019
The author explains the details of his life during the overcoming of his ruinous state of health. According to the title of the book, he made a mercury detoxification cure, but he did so many and varied treatments that finally cannot be said to be cured for the elimination of mercury. At first, I did not believe much about what I read, especially when I read the meters of gray "gelatin" getting out his bowel on a couple of occasions. The book is quite heavy to read. To finish it you have to put a lot of will. Sometimes I wished to skip a few pages to quickly reach the conclusions. The author offers his email address to consult him; in addition, he writes under a pseudonym in forums about mercury detoxification.
The author took years and a huge job to detoxify himself. Few people can even think about repeating what he did. To follow his steps, you would have to be young, relatively solvent, and have a tremendous force of will. His procedure is not suitable for mature people. I consider that the risk to be death during his treatments is high, so that, for most people, it is not advisable to follow his steps.
I commend the author for his deeds, curing and writing everything that happened to him during those years of struggle. Knowing how this disease affects the ability to express oneself, I consider that his book deserves to be considered as excellent.
Although the book is from the year 2012, it can not be said to be outdated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable if you have an unexplained chronic illness. It's a great read too.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 26, 2013
The complex of life-draining physical and psychological symptoms that has troubled me for more than twenty years has often made my life close to unbearable.

Two months ago I learned that all my symptoms extend from the same source: mercury toxicity, which has resulted from the placement of amalgam fillings in my mouth. I have also been poisoned by other toxic heavy metals from dentistry and from the environment. If I hadn't read Daniel Forsyth's The Mercury Diaries I wouldn't have been able to confirm my suspicion that this was the case, and I wouldn't have known where to start or how to continue with getting better.

It is an account of a man's struggle to regain his health in the face of grave, incapacitating illness, but is as far from a 'misery memoir' as it's possible to get. Not for one moment is it depressing or self-pitying. In fact, it's just the opposite. Daniel is a London City trader and self-confessed 'bloke', and his robust, positive, inspiring tone resonates throughout with bonhomie and humour.

It's a pacy and entertaining read, often very funny, which is all the more impressive when confronted with the author's assertion that he isn't a writer. He's written this book primarily to help others with the same core health issue as his own and secondarily as a literary exercise but, despite his protests to the contrary, he is a naturally talented writer. His voice rings authentically from the page and he's an excellent communicator.

Before you know it, you're caught up in the details of Daniel's day-to-day life as it unfolded through years spent discovering the nature of his illness, and the numerous alternative health methodologies he went on to explore and utilise in the pursuit of making himself better. It's hugely involving, with frequent injections of laughter throughout, never moreso for me than when he's tossing off wacky personal idioms: "Village!"

The evident purpose of the book is to clarify the steps people need to take in order to determine whether or not they are suffering from heavy metal poisoning, and to explain and demystify the various elements of the detox and recovery process. Daniel covers everything the newbie needs to know in crystal clear detail, from which books to read and the importance of self-education, to safe amalgam replacement, to diet, to adrenal support, to ordering specific lab tests, to taking your temperature so you can determine thyroid health, to choosing the right supplements and dosages to support your ravaged mind and body, and all points in between.

In doing so he has performed a genuine public service. Since reading The Mercury Diaries I've leapt onto the sometimes giddily steep learning curve necessary to get yourself better, and I bless this book for preparing the ground so well. Things would have seemed so much more daunting without it, of that I am certain.

For all that it entertains, Daniel's story is no joke. This man was chronically and seriously ill with an idiopathic illness that mainstream medicine could not and would not help him with. Instead he was given banks of tests and examinations, told he was fine, and condescendingly dismissed with an entreaty to 'go home and enjoy your health' when he was patently at death's door.

His disgust for the mainstream medical establishment is apparent. I don't share it to the same extent, but I have recently been finding out first hand exactly how limited and unhelpful mainstream medicine can be with a problem like amalgam poisoning. Anyway. Daniel wouldn't take no for an answer, determined to take control of his own health, and dived instead into the world of alternative medicine.

Alternative healthcare is rife with fakes and charlatans and well-meaning but credulous pseudoscience. It also contains good science and offers effective treatments that mainstream medicine doesn't. The trick is to be smart and discerning, and to be careful when trying new approaches and interventions. Daniel has done this, and his resourcefulness led him to discover the central tentpole of his recovery plan: the Cutler Protocol.

You can Google Andrew Hall Cutler and find out about this remarkable man's innovative work, which is rescuing thousands of lives from misery even as I write. A biochemist with a PhD from Princeton, he was struck by what he calls a 'mystery syndrome'. With the help of an environmental doctor he determined that its cause was mercury from his dental amalgams, and his knowledge of biochemistry enabled him to develop a detox protocol with which he healed himself. He subsequently chose to share it with the public, and it is now considered the safest and most effective protocol in the world for healing illness caused by heavy metal toxicity.

You'll find out about it in The Mercury Diaries, as well as enjoying a gripping and redemptive narrative. This is the primer you need to point you in the right direction if you've got inexplicable, apparently incurable symptoms either physical, mental or both that mainstream medicine just can't seem to help you with.

5.0 out of 5 stars East Ender or Essex Boy in the City? No matter - What a Triumph of a Transformation
Reviewed in Germany on December 12, 2013
I was struck by the sheer achievement of this guy, against the odds. For anyone whose health has been shattered by Mercury or heavy metal poisoning, this is an inspiring (even funny in places) tale of underground learning and very hard won recovery. And boy this guy learned a great deal - despite not seeming to be the obvious type to do so. Sheer gutsy determination

For anyone who thinks they can just whip out a truck load of mercury from their body and get 'chelating' - then you'd better read this book. There is great wisdom in this book - don't be deceived by the style of language (which is very authentic). It made a lasting impression on me and leads the reader importantly to the 'Andy Cutler Protocol' and books

It's incredible to think that he went from standard ignorance about lifestyle and toxin risks to a totally transformed level of health and knowledge - and somehow never gave up a demanding job. Whatever this guy's real name he should be very proud - in my view if he could afford to he should switch careers and start healing others

It's worth reading the book just for his description of what happened when he reluctantly succumbed to Colonic Irrigation! Can that really be true? See what you think. This is a book for those who 'get it' that visiting a GP, a dentist or a hospital is itself a dangerous thing. It's a book for those who've learnt to trust only their own judgement and to do the due diligence themselves.

Valuable information for anyone suffering from mercury illness. But probably not of much interest to anyone else. I got lots of pointers for what to do and what not to do. It was an informative and enjoyable read for me. For that, I'd like to thank the author.

Thank you Daniel for a very helpful book. As someone going through mercury chelation (2/3 done), I can relate to the horror of suddenly loosing health, brain, energy and social circle. Although my condition is way more manageable, I still find a great value in explanations of what can go wrong and why. Also, I have discovered new healing methods that I am going to use. Many thanks for your wonderful book Sunshine, and wishing you good health!
