Adrenalin-Fueled Dystopian Suspense

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of a possible future showing the outcome of an Islamic supremacist takeover of Europe. By the 22nd Century former native residents have become jizya-paying 2nd class subjects, or janissary troops in the Caliphate military, or outright slaves. Islam has become the central ideology across the continent, and tolerates dissent even less than the cosmopolitan Left does today. The novel follows the turmoil that enters the lives of several characters pulled from their toil. The escalation of events is handled very well, pushing up what's at stake and showing the protagonist's measured, building, visceral response. The story's climax really rocks! I have since gone on to read the first two titles in Kratman's 'Carerra Series', and those too are storytelling at its finest.

I also enjoyed how the author explores the world according to Islam, its ideology, its worldview, where the expansionism comes from, what it portends, how it can be resisted and fought, what the risks are, and what the outcome could be if no resistance is forthcoming.

Plus the novel is just great entertainment. It's one of the best high-action, adrenalin-fueled suspense novels on a plausible direction this global conflict could take. It's full of relentless action. Plus the characters resonate and feel very true-to-life.

Exhilarating read!

This book is fast paced, exciting and interesting future history dystopian action novel! It’s also free. I highly recommend it.

Although the title may invoke the historical Muslim caliphate, this book takes place in a future dystopian future caliphate in Western Europe! Low Western European birthrates, high Muslim birth rates and an influx of refugees from the Middle East has turned Europe over to the more fertile Muslims. This is a terrifying and thought provoking prospect that many people are afraid to discuss openly.

While I don’t agree with all the authors premises, he gets some things right.

First published in 2007, the author correctly predicts future waves of Muslim refugees to Europe and a rise in terrorist attacks throughout the west. This happened.

He predicts Britain attempting to distant herself from the European Union in the mid-2010s although not in the way it happened in our world. I don’t want to ruin the novel but Kratman has his own “version of Brexit.”

He also predicts the election of a Trump-like president in the United States in 2016 and the rise of populism in the United States. In this novel it’s much worse than our world.

He predicts the rise of a culture of political correctness and censorship on the left side of the political spectrum in the west. This is happening alongside the rise in right wing populism.

The author does not adequately predict the rise of nationalist movements in Western Europe. This is already happening in our world as part of the same populist phenomena responsible for Brexit and Trump. This is particularly true in Eastern Europe.

The book features cool future technologies including cybernetic implants, electronic telepathy, human programming and remote controlling of humans by other humans.

Despite predicting some remarkable future technology, the author is simultaneously a bit a luddite and predicts fuel shortages stemming from peak oil making transportation more expensive in the future. Despite the disruptions caused by war and genocide in this novel, this post-peak oil scenario already seems unlikely due to the proliferation of fracking, renewables and EVs by 2019 in our world.

Although the author has his biases, the novel nonetheless asks thought provoking questions. Many people assume that every group of immigrants will assimilate. This is true until one doesn’t. People also assume that educated people will always make the best decisions for themselves and their country. That is often wishful thinking.

The issue of Islamic terrorism and the question of whether Europe can assimilate a large Muslim immigrant population are two of the defining questions of the first half of the 21st century. As of 2019, it is not clear whether Muslim immigration Europe will succeed.

I’d recommend this book to alternate history fans, history buffs and conservatives.

I would not recommend to the politically correct.

A Remarkable Prophecy Coming True Today

To call this a prophecy is too mild; many such are little more than guesses. In this case, COL Kratman has told us not only why things are happening the way they are in Europe, and what the result is likely to be, but the cultural factors which are permitting those crimes, both on the Left and among the Muslims. He explains what Muslim culture is really like, and the falseness of the Left's support for it, in a balanced and extremely reasonable way. I think in some ways the most important lesson here is how failing to act to stop the Mulsim takeover of Europe could lead to the rise of extremism here in the United States if we don't take care to protect ourselves from their efforts, much as the current superstitious mania we are experiencing here arose out of the use of Christianity to oppose Communism in the 1960's. Read the afterword; in many ways it's the most important part of the book.
