I might just have a really weak constitution, but this film effed me up. It got creepy as hell towards the ending, and the whole drug culture/junkie thing paired with the paranormal really unnerved me. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. If you like the quiet, subtle, plot-based type of horror film, this might be for you; there's no real gore or things that "jump" out to scare you too much. Others have described this movie as "boring," and I could see how they'd feel that way, but it kept my interest throughout. It's definitely more of the "quiet unnerving" rather than the "jolting terror" type of movie, so hopefully that helps you decide. I wasn't in love with the acting at the beginning, but it got more believable towards the middle and then the end. I enjoyed it overall though.

I think some of the low ratings were due to people not understanding how to interpret the ending. You can Google to easily find out what it meant (a Reddit discussion should be the first result, and it explains everything in detail), but the writer didn't leave things up to interpretation. It's a creative ending.

This movie is mostly dialogue. It's low-budget, but it's not micro-budget. There's a difference. Micro-budget movies are just awful at every angle: acting, writing, editing, directing, etc. This movie is low-budget, but well-made. (Although the writer/director ended up directing some bad movies, the worst of which was VHS:Viral.)

If you're looking for blood, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a thriller, look elsewhere. If you're looking to jump out of your seat, look elsewhere. This movie is a slow build. Tension and mystery slowly develop as the film advances. It's well-written and nicely edited. The actors are good. The main guy, Mike, is a very solid actor. He seems like someone with straight man appeal (in the comedic sense), but so far it seems as if Resolution hasn't led to any big breaks. The actor playing the addict is just a passable actor. Not great, but he gets the job done. Sometimes he relied too heavily on cursing to get his point across, which is something inexperienced actors tend to do. He settled down as the movie progressed. Both were pros compared to the majority of low-budget actors. (Check out Prime's lowest-rated category and you'll see the difference.)

I really would recommend this movie. I've seen it four or five times thus far. It's a very good, dialogue heavy horror film.

There's a subtle creepiness factor to this film that works to keep you interested. It is not filled with special effects and gore, but it does slowly examine what it means to be making a story about something you cannot understand. Understanding that this is a subtle puzzle will help you enjoy this movie. If you are looking for a film to make you scream, this is not it. But it may give you bad dreams.

If you are looking for special effects, pass this up.

"Resolution" had excellent acting, and refreshingly non-formulaic plot.

The more engaged you are, the more you will get out of it.

Not for everyone.

Yeah, this is the stuff I'm looking for. This is the stuff I collect. The stuff that tests the boundaries of horror, this time by generating a whole lot of horror with a minimum of gore, special effects and, most importantly, explanation. Oh, it's not some weird David Lynch movie where you have no idea what's going on. Instead it's this very clear storyline about two middle age friends; one is a drug addict on his last lap, the other is a first-time expecting father who's decided to save his friend's life by handcuffing him to the wall of the remote cabin in the woods (of an Indian reservation, it turns out) for about a week.
No, it's not in-your-face Lynch weirdness, not at first. The weirdness is all lurking around the edges of the film. What's really the story about the two students who were constantly shouting at each other? The meaning of the strange films of the cabin that keep appearing on the laptop? The ramblings of the French misanthrope who holds a mirror up to face another and talks about an Ecuadorian native confronted by an enigma that might be an angel, an alien, a ghost...
This film in no way caters to the conventional palate. It doesn't matter: if you care about horror, you really need to see this.

I have to give this movie marks for originality, creativity in both its presentation and its story, as well as over all presentation was pretty darn good. But all that being said, I still felt that it was a pretty slow movie, and trying to follow the story was a bit vague. I also felt that the acting could have been better in some of the situations where the main protagonist seemed a bit non-chalant. But I do feel I am being a bit critical.
Over all though, this is an interesting story, which starts out looking like its gonna go into a drama/thriller and totally takes a 180 and becomes quickly a cerebral supernatural horror. I do feel there is some re watch value in this movie, as I am sure there are some things I have missed. This movie in many ways kind of makes me think of Mr.Jones, in both theme and idea. Which if you enjoyed this film or would like to watch another original horror story, which is rare now-a-days, Mr.Jones is worth a watch, and if you haven't watched this film yet, give it a whirl, It is certainly unique and a story, I doubt you have been told before.
