Small easy take along toy for my 2 yo. Like others posted- the carrying tube is flimsy and I don't for see it lasting (not a big deal). I was disappointed in the train and plane- they are a bit hard to tell exactly what they are (took a star off for that). See picture (although they look better in picture maybe it's just me being too critical!). I was more pleased with the designs of the animal lacing set and would recommend those over this set.

I got this set to entertain my toddler on a cross-country trip and it was a hit. The theme is cool and the pieces are a nice size and colorful, but the price is what really sold it for me. After a few weeks of play, there's no sign of chipping. The paint quality definitely lives up to Hape reputation, much better than Alex or Melissa and Doug sets. The only cons are that the lace that is provided is a little flimsy and thin and the holes are a bit rough and snag the lace. Some sandpaper rolled over a tiny dowel helped the smooth out the interior. Overall, I am pretty happy with the set. Edited to add that while the stock images show pieces with wood exposed on the edges, the set I received had pieces that were entirely painted.
