This is 4.5 quarts. The picture in my review is 1 gallon (4 qt). Filled to the brim it’s 4.5 qt. The description says 8 quarts - it’s wrong. The etched label on the bottom of the bowl says 8 quarts - the label is wrong.It’s also extremely flimsy. When you press the bottom it flexes like the side of a soda can and dents immediately. I’m sure it wouldn’t just break a hole through it, but it’s really low quality and not at all what I expected from reading other reviews here. I’m returning mine.

These are good basic mixing bowls. I use them for mixing salad mostly, but also for stuff like mixing popcorn to season, quickly chilling things with ice, mixing different batters (coding/frying or cake), and combining rice meals like adding shredded meat and veggies, etc. They are reasonably thin and lightweight, but they don’t feel flimsy or poorly made. In my opinion, good value for an affordable price.

These are not quite as lightweight as the kind of bowls I own, but they look great and will be perfectly adequate for the gift I want to give. I like this type of bowl because they are "everything" bowls----I rinse garden produce in them, wash sweaters in them, use them for gathering last-minute odds and ends to throw in the car (snacks, chargers, maps, toys), holding ice-and-drinks, and have no worry about banging them up, denting them---I use them for everything that I don't want to use my 'good ' mixing and serving bowls for. They are a good alternative to plastic for holding hot soapy water, for carrying to the yard for holding cut flowers while making bouquets, for dyeing small items, for whipping up a quick vinaigrette---they are just great all-purpose bowls. You can sterilize them with two drops of bleach and hot water sitting for 20 minutes, and re-use them for just about anything. This 13-in. size fits nicely in my kitchen sink----bigger would not, which would reduce its usefulness a lot.

These are among the most useful items in my kitchen and I don't know how I got by without them for 50 years. They are very thin and lightweight, so they are easy to use. They would certainly dent easily if dropped but would probably be easy to knock out any dents. I haven't put any dents in mine and I bought another pack of them so they definitely get my recommendation.

I actually love these bowls. I make giant sized "Buddha Bowl" style lunches every day and never have had a salad bowl big enough. These are very light and a bit thin but overall fantastic for the price. Might be too early to say this but I enjoy the light weight they have, even if that's due to cheap production... it works for me. If you're looking for big bowls to keep in the kitchen, buy these ones. Won't disappoint.
