    In the literature from the manufacturer it sounds like the product line the 72-10415 is a part of has a back light and automatic shut off. Looking at the other models in the line this one does appear to be the headliner so it would make sense to have these two basic features. The only place I found that says the 72-10415 does not include the back light and auto shutoff is in the product manual which comes with the multimeter. If the unit came as it appeared to be described I would have given it 5 stars so if you don't need them this multimeter is for you.

    This is a great multi-meter in every way but one - it doesn't turn off automatically after some period of time, so if you forget to turn it off, it kills the 9V battery. I use it in the lab, and it replaces a meter that would shut down after a couple of minutes, which wasn't any good either. I wish somebody made one that would turn off after 30 minutes.

    the original 72-10415 has an extra digit of accuracy, 40,000 and cost much less. Be careful on what you are getting. They make excellent meters but see if you can find the old 72-10415 rather than this one.
