I have a Canon 5D Mark II and a 7D, both of which uses CF cards. While the CF cards may be faster, they are a lot more expensive (for example, 64GB SD costs about $35, vs 64GB CF costs at least $70). Also, all of my other devices uses SD and MicroSD cards, so I don't want to get CF cards just for my cameras.

My criteria are that the SD + adapter combination are fast enough for me to shoot 8 RAW photos on the 7D, and fast enough to support video-shooting on the 5D2 and 7D. I had tried a previous version of SD-to-CF adapter a couple of years back, but it wasn't fast enough to support either of my objectives. I gave up and used CF for a few years. But then this became available and received good reviews. The price is low enough that I bought one to try it. And it worked! I was actually surprised that this inexpensive adapter is fast enough. I have been using the adapter plus 32GB SD cards for 6 months now and am perfectly happy.

I used this to but a Class 10 UHS1 128GB SD card in a third-gen iPod Classic (the one with the touch buttons). This is the first CF to SD adapter I've used that actually allows full speed access to the SD card. This makes for even faster USB transfers than when I'm using a sole CF card. Not only is the cost lower, it's faster!

Great product at a great price. I can't recommend it enough. I used it at RetroSonicFidelity.

I have an old four-thirds camera that uses CF cards. I have a bunch of class 10 sd cards for my other cameras so I got this. It works fine in my old camera, but the write times are s l o w.
I shoot JPG+RAW. If one shot only JPGs, the smaller files should write less slowly. It seems that the adapter is doing more than just connecting contacts between cards given the slow write times using reasonably fast SD cards. It works so I'm glad I got it, but don't expect to shoot action sports pictures with this adapter. Maybe chess.

I purchased this to use in my Canon 7D camera and it works very well for me. I'm extremely pleased with the purchase.

I've tried this unit in my 7D using both 32GB SDHC Class 10 UHS-1 cards and 64GB SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 cards, and I'm using them now instead of the CF cards I also have (the CF's are now backups).

When deciding whether to get this or not, consider: Does your computer have a slot to plug in your CF card? Can you get a 64GB CF card for $20? For me the answer is No to both.

My computer takes SD cards so I can take my pictures and then feed them into my laptop without needing an adapter. If yours does also (which is likely) then give this a second thought. Consider: you'll save more than the $11 or so that this adapter costs on your first purchase of a 32GB or 64GB SD card.

I just popped in a sd card and away I went. On a 40d it buffered in about 13 shots in continuous mode and on a 7d it buffered out at 26. This test was done in full raw file size mode. I was quite impressed and it seems to be of solid construction.

I used to convert my SD card to CF, to put in my iPod Video.

Works well, without any issues.

I purchased this adapter because I have a couple of older DSLR's that support compact flash storage (Nikon D70, and Sony Alpha A200.) My main intended use of this adapter is to allow me to use the Eye Fi wireless SD cards so that pictures taken with the camera can automatically sync to my Android phone or tablet. When I first received this adapter, I could not get the WiFi capability of the Eye Fi card to work with either of these cameras and wrote up a somewhat negative review. I had since spent some time on the Internet researching the use of Eye Fi cards with these adapters, and discovered that it can be a rather tricky proposition and discovered some tips to make it work. Armed with my new knowledge, I tried again, and this time I found that it indeed works well with my Nikon D70, as long as I can force the camera to provide power to SD card long enough to transfer the images to the phone. This can be achieved by keeping the camera's display turned on viewing one of your pictures. Unfortunately, the WiFi transfers still do no work with my Sony Alpha A200, but the adapter still works with it to save the pictures to an SD card. So overall, I would recommend this adapter. It definitely works for using the inexpensive SD cards in your CF camera, and it may work for using Eye Fi wireless SD cards, but this functionality is highly dependent on which camera you use it with.

I purchased this adapter so that I could use the SD cards I already had on hand in my Canon 5D, which obviously takes CF cards, rather than repurchase a bunch of cards. From what I can tell, there is no noticeable decrease in speed when using these adapters which was actually quite surprising. When I'm shooting paid gigs, I stick with my CF cards, but I've put this adapter through its paces during just for fun, and portfolio shoots, and I really cannot complain.

For the sole fact that this adapter allows me to use several 32GB SD cards and one 64GB SD card that otherwise would be sitting in the bottom of my camera bag (and since the price of CF cards has jumped the past year or so), I have no problem recommending this as an excellent way of using cheaper SD cards in CF-only cameras.
