Freeformed Hybrids starts with alien life contacting the Earth in an unexpected way. What's surprising is that this alien life form looks identical to humans. The premise is that humans have been created long ago by an alien race, to be used to harvest body parts from to extend the lives of their alien creators indefinitely. There are many other such colonies, although many are deprived of free will and emotion and they are quickly becoming unsustainable. Some aliens must also decide whether they relate more to other aliens or the humans they have been inhabiting for many years.
The story was engaging and covered a lot of interesting subjects, from free will to the ethics of using another living creature for your own benefit. It presents a unique take on the origin of humans. I love the sci-fi genre, so I was pleased with this fairly original storyline. While the story flows well and progresses at a good pace, the writing isn't perfect. The dialogue could be a bit more compelling and natural. And while the formatting is well done, there were a lot of errors and typos that should have been easily ironed out by a good round of proofreading.
The cover's bold, bright colors catch one's eyes, and the DNA strand and human figures on the front tie into the theme nicely.
