Here's the situation: you want to hook up your cable to your TV but it's pretty far away. You got hand-full of coaxial cables but they're not long enough to reach the tube. Solution? 2 F-Pin coupler; barrel connector, barrel splice, whatever you want to call them. These are really reliable being that they're 3GHz connnectors, weather-resistant nickel-plated brass, and has high quality return/insertion loss. You lose signal as you connect those coaxial cables on and on until you reach the television or cable box or whatever you want to connect them to.

Simple fact - if you use such a connector, and it is not rated at 3GHz, it is likely not a very long lasting device. The internal parts of the normal units are not designed for more than one or two "connect and disconnect" cycles. After that they are loose and connections are not solid. Even when new, they may not be up to spec.

These are very well made and you can feel the center wire "push" as it seats.

TIP: the center wire of a coaxial cable should only extend slightly, and not be hanging out anymore than a very short distance. The problem is if too long, that center wire can bend, or short of crumble or just generally create unseen issues. Trim them.

Just exchanged Gateway (router) for newest Xfi one at a Comcast store. Had to go back to return old one, & while there I asked for an additional length of coax cable to lengthen existing cable coming through wall. Wanted to place the Gateway in a more open place than it had been in. Got home, unrolled extra cable only to find that it had male ends on both sides.. UGHHH! Couldn't use it (existing cable has male end... duh). Rather than trek back to Comcast again, ordered these female ended fittings to join the cables! TA DA... problem solved, easy fix at great price!
