This book was just ok for me. The heroine is a little too rough for me. She's basically a guy in a woman's body. The main problem for me was hero, Kel. He makes out and mauls his ex half naked but says " nothing happened " . They seem to think cheating only happens if you have sex. Kel even says he hasn't been with anyone since he saw Kid. WELL that's not necessarily true. Newsflash making out with your ex naked is cheating. When Kid and Kel come together, she forgives him immediately. No grovel needed. I liked all the other boys though especially Kav.

Okay, so I will start of by saying this is fiction, so expect to have to suspend reality a tad. As some reviewers have said, it would be difficult (although not impossible) to manage to attract as many gorgeous protective men as Shannon does. Fortunately, that didn't bother me at all since I was quickly caught up in other more emotional aspects of the story. The language was rough and the humor extremely crude (think men's locker room), more so than I ever read, but I still couldn't put the book down. The characters were great. I loved Shannon and her boys and Kellerman. The secondary characters were wonderful too. I got so caught up in the story that the things about it that bothered me (mainly the crudeness) didn't matter. I bought the second book before I ever even finished this one. Be aware, there is a cliffhanger ending which continues over into book two. I'm now fully addicted to this series.

I won book 2, so I hurried & bought #1 that night and now I just bought book 3! ... This amazingly talented new young author is phenomenal!! ... A totally fresh & different story line that kept the pages turning & me postponing other stuff I should have been doing :o lol ... If you love contemporary romantic suspense, big extended families, drama with twists & turns you don't see coming, then you need to add these to your MUST READ list, buy them & get reading some awesome women's fiction :)

That’s exactly how i felt from the beginning of reading this novel. I was not sure what I was getting into from the start, but the characters took on a life of their own soon after the book took off! I found the main character, Shannon Kelly, to be a really likable and strong woman, which i understand is all the rage right now, but so compelling when done right, and Karlsson DOES IT RIGHT! Shannon has a strength that has been forged before the book even begins telling her story, and the more backstory you get the more you realize there is really something to this girl from Chicago that was raised in Kansas City. The book begins with a pretty standard morning in the lives of these characters, albeit not an average morning for the rest of us. It takes you through a harrowing and brutal scene that gives life to the novel and also brings up emotions emotions in the characters that are impactful, stressing how important having a strong community can be when facing a trauma. There are a lot of different ways that you can label this novel, from romance to thriller and back again. There is a young girl trapped in a coma, a scary father that no one can trust, and a great love interest that you can’t help but root for. I found myself not trusting one character at one moment and changing my opinion the next, but I will say the way she writes the blossoming love story between Shannon and Kelllerman is fantastic!!! This novel will leave you wanting more at the end, and if you finish it as quickly as i did, BEGGING for more! Kudos on a job well done, and I’m absolutely team Kel all the way!!!
