Product Description
Superior Coverage from Multifunction Ceiling Mount Access Point
The ZyXEL NWA1120 Series is a standard-based, SNMP-managed PoE Access Point (AP) that includes two models: the 2.4 GHz NWA1121-NI and the newly introduced NWA1123-AC featuring the advanced 802.11ac technology. The smoke detector look exterior makes the NWA1120 Series perfect for indoor ceiling-mount installation; with the optimized antennas built-in, its design solves the common interference issue in ceiling-mount deployments. The NWA1120 Series supports multiple operating modes, such as wireless client and repeater, which make it an ideal, flexible solution for small business, hotels and school nvironments.
Ceiling-mount design with best interior wireless performance
Different from traditional business wireless APs struggling between performance and environment cohesion, the ZyXEL NWA1120 Series of PoE AP features embedded antennas and ceiling-mount capability without sacrificing wireless performance. In typical ceiling-mount installations, the access points with external antennas are mostly hidden in the plenum area; to prevent performance degradation, the antennas usually stick out of the ceiling—messy for indoor deployments. The smoke detector-style exterior of ZyXEL NWA1120 Series is suitable for ceiling installation that prevents equipment theft. Although the NWA1120 Series uses built-in antennas, it outperforms APs with internal antennas and blends into the interior better as well. In addition, the ZyXEL NWA1120 Series adopts non-toxic casing material, since it’s usually placed in plenum areas, to prevent hazardous vapor emission in case of fire; this is especially important to public venues such as offices, hotels and schools.
ZyXEL ONE Network experience
Aiming for relieving our customers from repetitive operations of deploying and managing a network, ZyXEL ONE Network is designed to simplify the configuration, management, and troubleshooting, allowing our customers to focus on the business priorities. ZyXEL ONE Network presents an easy-to-use tool, ZyXEL ONE Network Utility (ZON Utility), to realize speed network setup. ZyXEL Smart Connect allows ZyXEL networking equipment to be aware and recognize each other and further facilitating the network maintenance via one-click remote functions such as factory reset or power cycling. ZyXEL ONE Network redefines the network integration across multiple networking products from switch to Wi-Fi AP and to Gateway.
High-density with high-quality user experience
It’s now common for a user to carry two or more devices that use different Wi-Fi bands; this challenges many places that still use legacy Wi-Fi AP with insufficient capability to serve the high-bandwidth devices. NWA1123-AC is compatible with concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands to support more users at the same time. Featuring the latest IEEE 802.11ac technology, including the expanded channel binding of 80 MHz and the highest 256 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), the new NWA1123-AC delivers data speeds of up to 3 times faster. This brings the best user experience through higher number of parallel video data streams for minimized latency on the network.
Easy RF planning with same 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal coverage (NWA1123-AC)
Most Wi-Fi devices around us operate in the crowded 2.4 GHz band where only three non-overlapping channels can be used for deployments, and complaints for the unsatisfactory network performance are not uncommon. As many recent mobile or laptop devices support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, users tend to choose the 5 GHz band as their first priority; as a result, serving the 5 GHz devices becomes more important than before. However, the coverage of the higher-frequency 5 GHz band is inherently smaller comparing to the 2.4 GHz band, given the same output power. With a fine-tuned 5 GHz radio mechanism that boosts performance at the frequency, the coverage of NWA1123-AC becomes comparable to which at the 2.4 GHz band to reduce the complexity of deployments considerably.
Multi-operation flexibility and practical business features
The NWA1120 Series of PoE Access Points supports multiple operating modes including stand-alone access point, wireless client and repeater/root-AP mode. The wireless client mode enables office peripherals like printers or fax machines to connect to the network in case they are located in places difficult for cabling. The NWA1120 Series also extends Wi-Fi services utilizing the repeater or root-AP mode to prevent excessive cable constructions. The NWA1120 Series is the best choice for small businesses for its practical features designed for business deployments: multiple SSID, solid Wi-Fi security of WPA2 Enterprise, Layer-2 isolation and 802.1 x radius authentication. All these practical features along with the high-performance RF design make the ZyXEL NWA1120 Series the best solution for building flexible Wi-Fi networks in small businesses.

Signal strength seems great compared to old router.
Standalone interface is nice, no cloud needed. I don't feel like I don't lose configurability for not using cloud access.
Comes with wall power by default but is POE capable. Options are nice.
Cons (these cons may not be unique to this device just that this device has these limitations):
When the router is reset this AP doesn't seem release DHCP holdings. This means if there's an improperly configured DHCP lease or a lease that is supposed to be updated (like for the AP itself) on router reboot, this access point holds onto it. So rebooting the router to resolve this also means I need to reboot the AP first then reboot router while AP is rebooting.
Can't disable WMM, needed for certain backwards compatibility.
Wasn't clear about how to adjust 802.11 mode. The default profiles are locked, but if you make a new radio profile you can adjust the mode in those. This was not obvious at all. But eventually I got things working. For those running some older/simpler IoT devices, you'll need to likely run the 2.4 radio in N mode. But that was true on my old router as well. Not a limitation of this device.
Really simple. PoE injector …ran the cable. Don’t have to use a power supply. Setup wifi networks using the same names as my netgear router.
Everything seamlessly connects. There’s so many features. Upgrades all the time. Now I want to dump netgear and get all this brand for equipment.
Great price. Great device.
New FW 6.30 release fixed the config reboot issue of needing to reapply the config.

I got this back on 10/2020 so I've gotten some time under my belt with this thing at this point. Coming from the perspective of a Network Engineer that deals with this sort of thing daily it's on par for most AP's used outside of the home.
You have 2 options for setup GUI / CLI and the CLI is more immediate in changes as you would expect coming from an office / DC background. From the perspective of a home user though this could be appealing with the web GUI being somewhat familiar compared to the likes of the items you would pick up at your local BB / WM / etc. It's not flashy in any sense of the word like those brands it's just there to get the job done.
Being familiar with Cisco / Juniper / etc. the CLI is similar in context and application. It's not completely unlocked though in the sense you can't override every option but, it does make more sense than digging through the menus on the GUI.
I captured the CLI config and yanked everything out that wasn't needed / desired and went from there. Cleaned up it's simple to insert what you need and save it. Somewhere along the line though I deleted something somewhere and now when it reboots it needs the config reapplied... not an issue too often since it's plugged into a POE injector that keeps it powered up during server reboots.
I've been able to max out the throughput on a single client using an AX210 Intel adapter @ 1.5gbps / 150MB/s pushing/pulling from the server. Not nearly the 2.4gbps it's capable of which seems to be a QOS limitation which I opened a ticket with Zyxel for and didn't get far with them unlocking the option to modify things to boost the speed.
If you're looking for something better than the run of the mill consumer grade junk... This is your best bet and at least 50% cheaper than buying a 802.11ax router and turning it into a bridged AP.

The only possible gripe I can have is the fact that the Nebula portal isn't super user friendly. While it does offer loads of awesome features, the GUI could use a little TLC and could be difficult to figure out if you didn't know what you're doing.
I'm seriously considering buying some more for my warehouse. These little things are just so great. It beats the stuffing out of a mesh system IF you're wired for it.
Attached is a screenshot of a speed test connected to the AP (on a fiber internet connection). Mind you, the nearest AP was ~30ft away and had 4 thick walls to travel through when the test was ran. I've had much more expensive APs do way worse in better conditions.
Summary: Buy these things. You will probably need a few, but this is the best budget WiFi 6 AP. If your home or office is wired with Ethernet, this is a fantastic solution for solid, reliable coverage.

Top reviews from other countries
Pros:
- Is actually fanless despite other customer reviews hinting that it is not
- Totally silent
- Supports multiple user accounts
- Supports different roles for users (eg Admin, Not Admin)
- UI is not as confusing as other vendors, notable because some UIs on other consumer grade managed switches are *horrible*
- Power cord doesn't have a brick on the end, so it's easy to plug in to a crowded power strip
Cons:
- UI relies heavily on Javascript which must be whitelisted
- Switch config for Link Aggregation is very lacking. (Ive tried to include details but each update is rejected...)
What would make this a 5 Stars?
- An authenticated API for scripted/automated configuration
- Support all common Link Aggregation configurations
Package contains full hardware for surface, wall and rack mounting so lots of options for how to place the switch. Only minor issue is that the wall mounting slots are only on one plane, so it must be mounted straight up or down and can't be mounted sideways.
For a home switch that I want to play with network segregation, this is the ticket. There's port labelling as well if need to remeber what's plugged into that one port that seems to be hogging the bandwidth.
