While I fully expected this to be a cliche ridden adolescent potty humor waste of time, I promised a friend I would watch it and I did, reluctantly. Funnest damn film I have watched in a long time. Even more amazing there is so much truth in this story. It felt like a sequel to Stand By Me, without the heavier moments. I had three buddies in collage, each of us represented in this film and yes there was a Barry! We were all in theater together, one St. Patric's Day our Barry showed up at the last possible minuet before he had to be on stage, quickly changing into priest robes for his scene in a Shakespeare play. Our Barry was drunk and while on stage with his back to the audience he bowed, this rather large Irishman had neglected to put on underwear. Needless to say, it was a show stopper. The Barry in this film was, well, true in every way to the one in my life. The writing is flawless the direction impeccable, the dynamic highs and lows kept the pace and rhythm flowing like a well conducted symphony. The acting? What acting I didn't see any acting here. I witnessed real live people living breathing characters struggling through life and caring feeling people doing their best to figure out how to be grown ups and like all of us they sometimes failed. Importantly this film sets its self above the prepubescent gross out films in so many ways. This film says an awful lot about friends and family about the struggle that is life in society, the difficulty finding the right relationships in love and friends. Between the laughs is the subtle hand of the messenger. It is really hard to believe the producers pulled this off on a low budget. There is intelligent life here. Kudos to everyone associated with this one! Cohen bros, look out, these guys are good.

There has not been a laugh out loud comedy out there in a while. Someone Marry Barry gives it to us. I was dying. There are a ton of funny people in this film. Tyler Labine (Barry) and Lucy Punch (Mel) were amazing together. Their on screen chemistry was something to behold. Get this movie now and watch it!

I rented this movie to see Lucy Punch, and she nailed it as she always has.

The parts of this movie that try to be funny really do hit the mark. If you liked Bad Santa and Bad Teacher, you'll get some good laughs from SMB. However, the script wanders into relationship-counseling territory, briefly at first then full speed ahead. If the viewer is under 22, maybe there's something to be learned here. (The characters certainly are older than that.) Overall, the male characters talk about and react to life and love in ways that read like the annual "love special edition" of a magazine aimed at second-year college girls.

I also took exception to the soundtrack, which leaned heavily on the coffeehouse acoustic guitar ballad technique. This has been overused in film generally, and now comes across as clumsily manipulative rather than sentimental.

Lucy Punch is hilarious, very funny movie. The first 35 minutes are hysterical, then the plot opens up to Barry's new relationship, and his friends reactions. Tyler Labine and Lucy Punch make the perfect dysfunctional couple. Damon Wayans Jr. and Thomas Middleditch add great comic relief as well. Worth a rent...

If you like a bit of raunchy humor, aka Hangover, whatever, you should like this.

Barry finds someone and I couldn't have imagined a more perfect match.
She's hilarious. Saw her in "Hot Fuzz" as well.
Fortunately she didn't lose her head in this one and we got to see much more of her comedic talent - awesome!

Any movie with Tyler in it you have to watch if you want to laugh. There is just not enough laughing In the world today and we all need it. It is a little on the gross side for some people who don't find bodily functions funny at all. But all in all, he is worth watching in anything he does

Some laugh out loud parts. It was crude, but I like crude humor. Overall it was a
entertaining, certainly it is directed toward the younger male population and as for me I can relate to some of it. So I enjoyed it.

I laughed til I cried in several scenes. This comedy is great for a mood pick-me-up, which is what I was looking for. I love writers that put such hilarious lines that we'd NEVER say in real life, hilarious!
