Pet Food Made with Purpose

From quality North American ingredients backed by our 'No Bad Anything' promise, to our unique small-batch production for superior control, every bag we craft represents an unwavering attention to quality and an ongoing commitment to natural, wholesome nutrition. Ultimately, living well is a choice we make for ourselves and our pets. It’s the reason we create foods you can feed with the same pride we have in making them.

Good Food is Not Great Food

There are a lot of pet foods on the market, enough to make it difficult, if not near impossible to know at first glance which one would be best for your pet. Here are some things we think you should know to make the choosing easier. Good food contains quality ingredients and is made by large corporations or is outsourced by marketing firms to be processed at the discretion of third party manufacturers. Great food contains nutritionally balanced, trustworthy Canadian and US sourced ingredients made in small batches for superior quality control. It is crafted with pride and made with purpose by companies that are family owned. Nutrience is great food, made to nourish your pet from the inside out.

Doing it Right

To provide every assurance possible that the pets we feed are well nourished and full spirited, every bag of Nutrience is processed to the highest possible standard within pet food manufacturing and is in fact equal to that of human grade facilities. Every batch made passes the most rigorous testing procedures, subscribes to the most stringent food processing policies and is double checked by third parties for safety. In addition, our facility is routinely audited by NSF International and found to be compliant with regulatory standards, client specifications and procedures.

  • Nutrience: Frequently Asked Questions

Is the yeast culture in Nutrience formulas inactive or active? Why is one chosen over the other?
  • The yeast culture in Nutrience formulas is inactivated - carried out towards the end of the yeast's fermentation process. The inactive form is widely used in pet foods, as an this form won't continue to ferment and pose a risk to the safety and nutritional integrity of the food.

What is the difference between a grain and a pulse legume/fresh legume? What type of legume does Nutrience use?
  • Grains are a good source energy, protein and fiber, while legumes have a higher protein content but are lower in sulphur amino acids like methionine, a component of proteins. Legumes used in various Nutrience formulas include alfalfa, peas and lentils.

Where does Nutrience get its salmon from? Is it farmed or wild, and is it foreign or local?
  • The salmon in Nutrience formulas comes from fish farms based on the eastern Canadian / US coast. Farmed salmon offers a consistent supply of fish in terms of both size and quality.

Is the meat protein used in Nutrience formulas free range, or penned? Is it foreign or local?
  • The chicken and turkey protein in Nutrience formulas is of local origin, and the duck protein is from France; all are raised in free range conditions. The lamb in Nutrience formulas has been raised in pastures in Australia / New Zealand.

How important is it for me to stick to the feeding recommendations suggested on Nutrience packaging?
  • Nutrience formulas are designed based on nutritional requirements established by the NRC (National Research Council). Due to varying metabolisms among animals, however, they must be carefully monitored & feeding quantities adjusted to maintain a healthy body weight. When switching to more nutrient-dense foods such as Nutrience Grain Free, owners will find smaller quantities are necessary, to avoid weight gain.
