I bought this card (M2P4) to use a Samsung 512 GB 4 lane pcie SSD. I'm running the drive on this card in an Akitio external pcie enclosure. The card work fine, setup was easy. There may indeed be some space between the SSD and the heat sink ( a very substantial heat sink by the way), but I imagine that that could be easily remedied with some heat sink paste or maybe some aluminum foil. in any case, this combination is working exceedingly well, i.e., seemingly every bit as fast as the internal 1 TB ssd in my late 2013 Mac Pro (cylinder). I only wish Samsung made a 1 TB version of this drive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these cards. I've had mine for about 2 months. I'll update my review in a few months or sooner if the card fails, but at this point, I'm delighted with the card and the whole setup.

Pro:
Large heatsinks and it works fine(booting and storage).

Con:
When assembled, the thermal tape on the heatsink has a 5mm gap that have no contact on my plextor m.2 flash nand chip. Be prepared to get another 2mm thermal tape.

Others:
Took 2 star off;

1.The heatsink thermal tape gap does not have contact with the m.2. Thicker thermal tape would be nice.

2.Ordered 2 of these from M-Factors Storage and one of the m.2 securing screws came thread-less.

Overall its a good solution for m.2 overheating but thermal tape gap is a downer.

No problem setting it up, but did need to find some online help from people who had already figured this out. It's important you have the right motherboard and latest drivers if you want to use this as your boot drive.

Read:1118MB/s Write: 836MB/s on my samsung xp941. Simple install, do not lose the isolation washers for the heatsink and ensure you don't mix up the sizes as the larger washers help to shim the heatsink.

Booted windows 7 from Asus Z97 maximus gene vii with XP941 drive in m.2 x4.
