I bought this product to make up for the lack of a microphone in a circa 2008 Windows XP laptop that was originally my daughter's "off to college" computer. She has since discarded the computer and other than being trashed with iTunes it was perfectly serviceable for my needs after a re-image of the hard drive with the exception of the absence of a microphone. I wanted the smallest microphone I could find and I wasn't keen about what was available, desktop goodies with cords and bases did not serve my intent which was simple portability.
A USB microphone of this size was perfect for what I had in mind which was to repurpose the computer for use as a portable audio signaling terminal over HAM radio. For those not familiar the concept is to use audio band signaling to move digital (text and numbers) traffic over a radio channel, pretty much any radio channel but in my case HAM band service. There are two ways to do this, direct coupled with wires and interfaces, or audio coupled using the radio microphone to the computer speakers and the computer microphone to the radio speaker. Just one little problem, my somewhat elderly laptop did not have a microphone, and that is where this product comes in, it supplies the microphone.
The requirement is somewhat demanding, by using multiple tones on multiple frequencies in the audio band specialized software encodes the ones and zeros as tones that can be read as ASCII text on the other end of the radio link. With sophisticated techniques the software can build enough redundancy into the tone signaling to make it possible to send and receive error free text and numbers over a very noisy radio channel. But to keep it simple I wanted to use audio coupling which is very demanding service for a product like this one. A friend and I had excellent luck in early testing moving data back and forth over a radio channel using my old Dell laptop and FLdigi software. We used audio coupling methods (hold the speaker near the mic, press send on the computer and key the mic, and vice versa).
My experience was the FLdigi software was not the least bit fussy about audio levels provided by the microphone and it worked very well for my purposes. There was a little bit of a configuration struggle getting Windows to pay attention to the microphone but that is more of a Windows issue. For the price it was a great value and exactly what I needed.

Does not work, waste of money.
So far this microphone does not work at all. Skype and my Windows 10 Dell do not recognize this microphone. I do not see the microphone under Device Manager. I wasted my money on this item and it taking 23 days to ship did not help me.EDIT: I DID NOT EVEN GET A MICROPHONE! They sent me a generic Bluetooth that does not even work, it fails to open.EDIT 2: The only reason why I put 2 stars from 1 originally was because they refunded the total amount of money I spent on this product.
