In this episode, Penelope finally comes face-to-face with the “Jacobin” and he tries to convince her to join him. In the process, she makes the startling discovery of the identity of the real puppet master in this game of intrigue.

WHAT IS AN AWAKENING?

An awakening occurs when something so profoundly changes the world that all of the old rules no longer apply. A powerful new order arrives, completely unexpected and without warning, and things are never the same again.

The First Awakening occurred approximately 200,000 years ago when Homo sapiens emerged in East Africa, but it took another 150,000 years for things to begin to get interesting.

The Second Awakening saw the emergence of spoken language, early shamans, and great myths being told around the campfire. For the first time, early humans became self-aware and while still considering themselves a part of nature, they understood they were now different.

The Third Awakening began around 3,000 years ago. It saw the rise of all modern religions, as well as science. Between 800 BC and 400 BC, there was a religious explosion. The key events in the Old Testament occurred, from which emerged Judeo/Christian beliefs. At the same time Taoism was being followed by Confucianism in China. The same was happening with Shintoism in Japan, and Hinduism and Buddhism in India, and later Islam.

For the past 500 or so years, the political power of religion has waned while the power of science has flourished. With videos of Space Shuttles exploding on cable news, both sides politicizing environmental science to serve their personal agenda and “safe” nuclear power plants melting down, science is now in retreat. When the big ideas from the previous Awakening start to collapse, a new Awakening is on the horizon.

The Fourth Awakening is just beginning. Exactly how it will manifest itself is still unclear.

Yep waiting for a long time got right away and read, and felt let down, it appears that Taaa Daaa! that's it, How do I feel one word disappointment. That's it???? or Taa Daa ! A big lead up and than thump . I did enjoy reading your books, as well, the Family Series, you are good. But I am feeling really let down. I will be watching to see what others think. I have been a big fan of yours so I am not a complainer. Did I miss read and there is to be a continuation??? I do hope so star wise I love your work, I have Loved all others you have done as well.

I did not understand just found out the novel is in the works so no more disappointment am looking forward to the continuation. So very well written and delivered a 5 star on all your work. The Fourth Awakening a very uplifting and fascinating read starting with the god formula and through the The Fourth Awakening Chronicles are worth reading and re reading.

Wait for the Ending!

Disclaimer: I enjoyed the original Fourth Awakening and the Gathering Darkness. I also bought and enjoyed the first three chronicles.

This is a presented as a serialization, a "single adventure" if you will. Just no that going in. 100 pages does not give you time for deep back story or red herrings. It does make for a good, if short, read. If you have read the first three you need this one. If this is your first experience with the Awakening Chronicles, you may find some things hard to follow at first, but the authors do an excellent job of giving you enough character to read this book as a stand alone.

Chronicles IV continues the adventure of Penelope Spence, Ian Flemming and their team mates as they search the globe for people who have "awakened." They have some adventures. And they come face to face with “Jacobin”, the nemesis of the Chronicles series.

This brings us to the big finish. There is a gem of a revelation in the end of Chronicles IV. It make me hungry for the next story. And that is all I am saying about that.

The Awakening story line is very good, and I want to read more. It should have gotten 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately it comes in a new (to me) and strange format that detracts from the read.
There's a first book, (The Fourth Awakening) a second (The Gathering Storm) and then inexplicably, four "installments" (Chronicles I through IV) that are purchased separately and which comprise a few chapters each--and there you're stuck, waiting for presumably another installment!
Now, the installments are good; they just should have been incorporated into a third and proper book. They try to stand on their own; there is repetition of foundational facts in case the reader missed earlier volumes. And then at the end of each installment there is a sample of The Fourth Awakening to tempt the reader to read the whole series! This results in a start/stop/read this/skip that/download-some-more process that makes a chore of reading a good work.

These are great stories if you take them as the fiction they are advertised. This one leaves the reader up in the air with no place to go unless another story will follow. As for the message, the tantalizing clues with no more information available to the public (apparently this is a closed society), it is impossible to come to any conclusion. I, personally, have only my own experiences to go on.

Enjoyed the premise of the series, but thought it left way too much unclear and unfinished. Too many characters to keep track of at times. One minute the character was a good guy, then bad guy and then who knows what to think. Too much 'it will be clear later, you're not ready for that information yet'. (?).

After what seemed like a long wait for the next book, I happily bought this today and was not disappointed when I read it straight through. I love this series and every one I could not put down. I can only hope the author will write further stories in this series more quickly, as I think this is a popular subject delivered in such excellent form.

These have been a very enjoyable series of books. I cannot give them a blanket endorsement as I feel that they are a series of niche books. What I would say, is that if they at first glance are somehow appealing too you, try a sample. Assuming you have a kindle or the app. If you are still interested after reading the sample, then these books are certainly for you, and there is no doubt in my mind that not only will you enjoy them, but what you take from them will serve you very well indeed.
