1, I bought it for the ability to print 11x17 pages. You feed one page through the back and it ALWAYS SMEARED the ink. Always.
2, I was never able to get the scanning feature to work, I spent over six hours on the phone with Epson technicians and they finally gave up and blamed it on my computer (Dell, Windows 7 Professional) which is totally bogus.
3. If it was idle for more than a few days, you have to clean the ink heads or it will smear.
4. It flies thru ink even though I have less than one hour on the printer, mostly black.
5, Total waste of my time, money and energy.
6. NEVER AGAIN for Epson.
A very, very dissatisfied former customer.
Pros:
1) Packaged exceedingly well to prevent damage - the outside box was beat up in shipping, but the printer was totally locked down with plastic wrap and safety tape. Nothing was moving regardless of any rough ride in transit.
2) It's a snap to set up. Touch screen walks you through the whole process. Ink install is simple. Recognized my access point/router immediately for wifi printing.
3) Interface/Menu is fantastic - 4" touch screen is intuitive and thorough - go as deep as you want to if you like tweaking your tech
4) Print quality is very good - I've used plain paper, premium glossy photo paper, and labels. It won't compete with $1,000 printers on photo quality, but the colors are rich and impressive, especially at this price.
5) Any paper size, any time - I bought it for 11x17, and this unit also handles 12x18 and 13x19. Impressive. May have to play with the larger formats.
6) Accepts SD cards and USB devices in front panel. Easy to print from thumb drive. Large LCD screen is a big plus also in this use.
7) Copier mode is simple, fast, and high quality.
8) Duplex mode lets you print on both sides automatically - no fuss at all - great for printing documents
Cons:
1) Starter cartridges look small and are low capacity (300 pages)- not expecting a long life cycle
2) OEM replacement cartridges are fairly expensive - may have to look at inexpensive 3rd party cartridges, which are cheap and abundant
3) 13x19 paper is expensive - not the fault of the printer, but it is a cost I'll have to deal with if I go there
4) Paper tray sticks out a little far for 11x17 and larger paper. The tray is flexible, but if you want 11x17, you will have to pull the tray out. Depending on where it site, you may have space issues. This is not a tiny printer, especially when loaded with large paper.
Have not tried printing photos on photo-grade paper, but I expect very good results, based on print quality on plain paper.
I rarely ever fax, so this feature is nice to have, but not crucial.
In my opinion the Pros far outweigh the Cons. If you need a versatile printer with numerous other capabilities for under $200, this can't be beat.
See my picture of the lake. After 15 plus head cleanings.

See my picture of the lake. After 15 plus head cleanings.
So if you're like me and are thinking "that's an economical option for a large format printer", think again. It's not economical when you have to buy again in just a few months...after a few months of mediocre performance.
To have the head replaced, it will be $135 (at a local authorized service location) to simply take a look at it and diagnose the problem. The cost of a new head and install labor on top of this makes it too expensive to repair, so it's a giant paperweight now. We print pretty much daily but not a lot of printing per day. The cleaning process uses lots of ink and supposedly must be run multiple times to clear a clog (doesn't work and wastes all of the ink) - according to other online sources EPSON printers are notorious for this little gotcha. Guess it's time to move on to another brand and not look back the same as we had to do with HP printers when we got burned in a similar way. This was not a cheap home-office printer and the money we just spent on new ink cartridges is now out-the-window too.
Top reviews from other countries
- Good quality.
- Good on identifying the Wifi automatically, so I never used a cable to print.
Cons:
- The embedded original ink finished very soon.
- The original (Epson) ink is expensive (for replacement), but I have bought 20 packs alternative ones from Amazon. I've used them for several months and so far so good.
- I just need to check / clean the nozzle using the small screen on the printer, which is fine (I had to do this even with the original ink, as I remember). That was provided that I did not use the printer for more than two or three weeks. But then cleaning the nozzle fixed the problem.
Also driver keeps saying it has an update available but when I try to upgrade it, it errors out. All the time.
The only positive is the scanner is good. But everything else about it is horrible.
