To start off, this movie has a fantastic cast. Even the smallest parts are played well, and the leads are all stellar. I confess fully to being biased when it comes to Clark Gregg, who I already adore, and the ever-lovely Amanda Peet, but even actors I was less familiar with and the handful of newcomers really shone. Don't walk in expecting all laughs. It's a dark comedy, which means you'll feel like grabbing for the tissues as often as the popcorn. The balance between the two is handled with real grace, and what the movie sometimes lacks in subtlety, it easily makes up with substance and heart. Well worth the time and money - you won't be disappointed.

The only major problem with TRUST ME is that, from the film’s trailer and key art, it appears to be a comedy. It isn’t.

Viewers who rent or buy the release from Anchor Bay Entertainment, thinking that they are going to be laughing or, at least, chuckling throughout are going to be disappointed. Yes, there are some soft moments in TRUST ME, which might best be classified as an extremely dark satire of life in Hollywood, but they are few and far between.

Clark Gregg, who wrote and directed TRUST ME, stars as a former child actor who is now, not too successfully, agenting other child actors. Operating out of a garage, part of his problem is that whenever one of his clients is about to make it “big,” that kid gets pirated by a ruthless competing agent (Sam Rockwell).

Gregg’s fortunes appear to be changing for the better when he meets Saxon Sharbino, an amazingly talented teen actress who is about to snag the lead role in a major studio franchise. Her problem is her father (Paul Sparks), a brute who threatens to derail his daughter’s career before it gets started. Yet, there is something even more sinister going on here, which Gregg soon discovers.

TRUST ME is, in fact, a well made, quite involving movie with a couple of surprising plot twists. The cast is excellent and includes Allison Janney, Amanda Peet, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Molly Shannon and Niecy Nash.

Just don’t go into it thinking you are going to be seeing a laugh-out-loud comedy.

I really wanted to love this movie. I'm a huge fan of Clark Gregg and the acting was exceptional. I think the marketing misled me into thinking this was something lighthearted and comedic. While it did have comedic moments, the story was very dark. I like these small indie movies and it's a great showcase for talent and you never know when you're going to discover that one great movie that becomes something that resonates with you. I'd really like to know what I'm getting into, or even better, go in with no expectations and be surprised. I think the marketing let this movie down and left me dissapointed with the experience.

Caveat: I love Clark Gregg. Having said that, this movie shies away from most of the cliches, giving you characters that are both loveable and un-loveable, having flaws and staying away from one-dimensional boredom. The movie follows an agent in the cutthroat movie world, making people mad but having them turn around and be incredibly nice if you have an up-and-coming star. It definitely makes me glad I'm not in that business!

The ending was unconventional, but definitely wraps things up. The actors do a great job of making their characters believable, and the different locales are gritty and "real" feeling. I'd definitely recommend this to my friends.

A bit of language as tempers flare, but not overdone.

Trying to think of a target market is hard; we watched as kind of a "date" movie, but not a RomCom (although there are some elements), some action but definitely not an action adventure. More of a "slice of life" with people in some tough life situations.

The Guy who did Agent Colson from Marvels Agents of Shield is in this. Not at all even remotely the same piece of work.
It is different and he is a very good Actor. Not a Movie I will watch again and again though so definitely a rental.

It really isn't a comedy, but I love Clark Gregg so I thru out my misconceptions and took the movie for what it was. I would say this is a poignant tale of a man seeking to regain something lost. This movie left me staring at my screen saying "what the hell was that??" and "oh my god that is so heartrendingly sad"

The acting was superb. I enjoyed the smaller parts of Allison Janney, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Amanda Peet, but Clark Gregg was tremendous, He could shift from the down-on-his-luck to a negotiating whiz instantaneously. Worth the time and money.

I was expecting a comedy (based on the trailer) but boy I was wrong. This movie has a big heart and quite entertaining. It is a dark comedy so keep in mind that you'll get your heart stumped on towards the end.
Clark Gregg was great as the lead actor and the director. The new girl I'm not so sure about (sorry new girl) If you're a Clark Gregg fan then go for it. I enjoyed it.
