My macbook from mid 2012 has had a lot of issues in the past. It crashed after a year and I took it to the apple store and unfortunately had to replace the HD which erased everything (back up your computers everyone!)

Recently, it "crashed" again where i saw the white screen of death with the blinking folder icon. I was determined to try to fix it myself. I knew the HD couldn't have crashed again, so I ordered this cable. I have been hearing about how these cables weren't very good on certain models so i tested it out. Low and behold! My computer works perfectly now and nothing got lost.

It was extremely easy to install (even for a computer noob like me), and I'm more than happy with it

Replaced this cable on my 2013 Apple Macbook Pro 13" after getting a blinking folder screen on startup that started out of nowhere. Watched a youtube video which is how I diagnosed the problem, ordered this cable, and walked me through the repair. You have to be patient, have the right size screwdriver set to take out the very small screws, but if you have the right tools, this will take you about 20min to make the repair. After I made the repair all seems to be working just fine. Highly recommended and quite a low price to get the computer back operating like normal.

A friend of mine brought me their computer since it had the blinking question mark folder of death pop up. I work in IT and I have seen it before so i just say buy a new hard drive and I will replace it. Sometimes verifying and repairing the disk will temporarily fix it, but that didn't work. I put the new drive in the 2012 MacBook Pro 13" and to my surprise disk utility was only recognizing that a drive was in the computer, but it couldn't tell the drive name or format type. It was unlike anything i've seen before and I have fixed a ton of macs. I formatted the new hard drive with an external adapter on my personal computer and named the drive after her name. It worked on my computer externally, but her mac would not see the name of the hard drive. Just shows me that there was one in the computer. I thought it was a motherboard problem at first, so I plugged the new hard drive into her computer using my USB to SATA adapter. It recognized the drive and could install the OS on it via USB. So it wasn't the motherboard. Has to be the cable. Sure enough it was. I bought this cable since it was very cheap and had good reviews. I still was unsure that it would fix the problem and I was reluctant with it not being advertised as an official Apple cable. The cable works great and fixed the problem completely. It is exactly identical to the original cable and fits perfectly. Glad this was a cheap an easy fix. I also discovered that my friend's original hard drive was not dead, but being it is 4 years old on a bad cable it is lucky to be alive as it is. I told her to keep the new hard drive in it since who knows when her hard drive will fail. Told her to keep the hard drive in a safe place as a backup option in the meantime. Hard drives are only like $40 now for a simple 500GB drive. $55 to fix her computer. Not bad.

My SATA cable went bad (again) only a few months after I had my computer fixed at the Apple store. This time, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I have a 2013, 13" Macbook Pro which took this SATA cable in perfectly. After some delicate surgery, my Mac is working smoother and faster than ever before. If any problem arise in the future, rest assured that I will re-order this cable to fix it.
If you have a SATA cable that has gone bad and your computer is not under warranty any more, save yourself some cash and replace it yourself instead. Great investment!

The cable did the trick for the issue I was experiencing so that's good news. Mine was brand new unlike some other reviews so that was a plus. It still had the adhesive on it and came in packaging that said "NEW" on it. I gave four stars because it was like folded in half inside the bubble wrapped envelope and I had to unfold it so that was concerning. However, it did do the trick and fit how it should. It's only been installed a couple of hours so we will see how the life of it works out. Other than that, a good product that was less than half the price you pay for it from a site like ifixit.com so can't complain too much there.

While I typically do not offer technical support for Apple products, I decided to save my daughter a few bucks and fix her MacBook Pro. Installed upgraded hard drive and this cable. MacBook pro is running like new.
Good price, shipped fast.

Saved me 2012 Macbook Pro from a trip to the pro shop. I was stuck on the spinwheel and tried to do a hard reset which resulted in a flashing question mark folder. Thought for sure the hard drive was dead but a new HD did not solve the problem. Upon further investigation discovered that hard drive cable failure is extremely common with these models. Found the cable on Amazon, received it, and installed it ourselves. We are not professionals by any means and know very little about rebuilding computers, so the project was of medium difficulty for us, but others would find it simple I'm sure.
