Wasn’t satisfied with the sound I actually think the mobile cube sounds much better and a THR 5 sounds better than both.

I've played music all my life, and am good at guitar and keyboards. I am somewhat obsessive about sound quality and specifically how an instrument reacts musically, though I also believe you can get a good sound out of lots of budget gear. I am a music therapist who was looking for a small light amp to use during sessions that could run the range from clean to metal. The battery powered amps I tried were nice (katana mini) but not quite loud enough. With reasonable expectations in mind (this isn't a big amp for playing live with a loud band, it is not a little boutique tube amp for using in the studio), this amp is everything I needed.
This amp is absolutely loud enough for me. Gets over my noisy music groups no problem. Might keep up with a drummer in a practice setting if they aren't an idiot but I havent tried. It is sensitive at it's lowest settings like others say, but it's really not a big deal.
This amp comes with an adapter, which is fine. I sometimes wish it had a fixed cable but it hasn't bothered me much. The bigger amps in this series do, if that matters to you.
It is stupid light and a perfect size. And it seems really well built. And its really REALLY inexpensive.
I use it on both keyboards and guitar.
The effects are fine. I usually use a bit of echo or reverb.
The app is kinda clumsy, but I used it exactly ONCE to put the models I want on it.
Heres the big thing about the amp models... THEY SOUND AWESOME. With the three I have loaded (JC Clean, Tweed, Orange) it is hard to make a bad sound. Put all the eq's at noonish, don't over think it. I typically crank the gain up all the way and set the volume as needed. Heres what that gets me - the JC breaks up a bit but stays pretty clean and FAT. Like it has a compressor on but a good dynamic one. The tweed is very dynamic, and can get a good roots rock or blues thing going. Can get fairly hairy with hot pickups in a really nice way. Cleans up with volume or pick dynamic. The Orange - Forget the other metal settings - use the Orange Stack. Stick a pedal in front if you need more gain. But you probably dont, because this one chugs and chugs. It is really open and thick sounding, not fizzy like the rectifier seems to be for lots of people.
On any of these settings, with the gain up high - this amp feels and sounds like it is opened up to it's "happy place" (if you use tube amps you know what I mean here) even at manageable volumes. It responds well to your playing and sounds nice and full.
TLDR: This amp is good, its cheap, use the JC, Tweed, and Orange. Get it.

I am still breaking this amp in but so far im finding the audio quality fairly uninspired. I am using JC Clean mostly and then adjusting the signal via external pedals.

Cranking the amp gain level all the way does produce a reasonably nice tone, but only if that’s what you’re looking for. The clean tone without gain is relatively quiet at max volume and also not particularly pleasant. I found it useless with active pickups on an acoustic electric.

I tried to drive some Beyerdynamic 770 (80ohm) headphones with the clean signal and that is also pretty quiet even at max volume. I ended up somewhere around 30% gain on JC Clean, max volume on amp and guitar, to get an appropriate volume in my headphones.

Mostly I’m working with this because it’s relatively compact and therefore fits in the space I have. The price wasn’t terrible I guess, resale probably will be difficult when I inevitably decide it’s time to get a nicer sounding setup but with the low initial investment you can only lose so much on resale.

Bought this to amplify my voice when playing guitar and the echo works well to enhance voice. Works well for that, but don’t have an electric guitar, so I can’t review that use. However, it does NOT sound good when connected to iphone pandora. No setting I tried would make that even half-way acceptable. But that’s not what it’s made for. Haven’t tried it with batteries yes.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the cube and roland's service. the cube sounds good, but the first one stopped working after a month. the second one stopped working in about three months. if you buy it through amazon, they will not help you after 30 days, and you have to contact the manufacturer. i find contacting the manufacturer to be difficult and have not received any response to date. you may want to try sweetwater or a more responsive company.

I wasn’t impressed with the sound quality of this amp. The crunch and lead settings sound good but the clean channel is fuzzy and muffled, also, I wasn’t pleased that I couldn’t have the chorus and reverb effects on at the same time like my other Roland amp. This is a good practice amp, but I was a bit disappointed with it for performing.
