Perfect accessory for iOS devices

First, look at the price. It's cheaper than the Audio-Technica version of the same microphone. Next, look at the features and all the ways this microphone can be used. It can connect to Android and iOS based smartphones and tablets to enhance audio performance for video recordings. It can also be used with a DSLR camera as it has an option to be power driven (battery included) which takes away the need for a shotgun microphone when vlogging or doing reviews. Lastly, check out the cord! It has a 20' long cord - unheard of for most lapel mics. This allows you to walk around and do demonstrations on video without having to move the camera. No loss of audio as the microphone is attached to your lapel and moves with you.

The audio pickup of this microphone is omni-directional and it definitely makes a positive difference when using it. I picked up this mic after doing some research for microphones I could use with my iPad and iPhone to enhance onboard sound. This one is perfect for my uses and at twenty bucks the price was right too.

An excellent accessory I highly recommend!

I purchased this little mic to improve the sound quality of both voice and music during the "stay at home" portion of the Covid-19 pandemic. The closer you get the mic to the source, but better "presence" and rejection of unwanted sounds. I expected some improvement just by having a mic closer to me, but I did not expect such a noticeable improvement! The 39 second recording is something I grabbed from my group of recordings, with this mic worn on my shirt, just below the camera field of view. When I used the phone microphone in previous recordings, the neighborhood sounds, cars, etc. were very intrusive. With this mic worn on my body, not only was the sound greatly improved by the quality of the mic, but also by having the mic so close to my mouth.
The cord is VERY long and I could easily more than double the distance from the phone, but that was not required for this use. Please also note that if you use a standard camera, the included battery can power this as a condenser microphone for that extra signal. Yeah, I'd buy it again and might even get one for a gift for one of my colleagues. Watch the video and judge for yourself. No audio enhancement, just me, my Samsung S9, and this mic.

I really like this to help record my youtube videos. I use a Canon t6i and the clicking noise that happens during zooming in and out is quite annoying. This helps tremendously! The cord is super long (20ft.) and the lavaliere is very sturdy and made of metal. There's a switch that allows you to record your audio on either your camera or a smartphone. If you use the camera setting, be sure to have backup batteries (LR44) and to turn it off after use. I actually purchased extra batteries right here on Amazon for a really good price. All in all, I do recommend this microphone.

I bought this mic for iPhone videos. On my third time using it, the lapel clip (where the mic clips in) broke. I contacted customer support on their website with the following comment ____I bought a BY-M1 mic. I used it three times. The lapel clip (the circular part where the mic attaches) snapped, and the mic can no longer work on the clip. How can I get a replacement lapel clip.____ Three weeks later. Still no response. I'll do business with a different company that supports their product. I suggest you do the same.

I own a lot of mics and I do a lot of work on narrations and voiceovers. I most commonly use my Sennheiser mkh 416 and have experience with the best mics used in Hollywood such as the Schoeps series of mics and Sanken lavs. Honestly, and to my surprise, this is the best purchase I've made in microphones. I don't know how they managed to do it, but I plug it in straight into my iPod (the ones like the phones, but not the phones, and that still have an input jack for headphones) and I get a low noise and almost perfect sound which basically needs no EQ at all. But, I am also using it now as a voiceover mic even, getting the talent to get very close, and it sounds amazing. I use it more than any mic I have. And I keep the EQ imprint in my iZotope plugins. Whatever you want to use it for, it will work amazing. If requested I can upload some samples, but I can't believe it is as cheap as it is. I just but another half dozen just to have in case the mic ever gets discontinued or changed as happens frequently with mics. There is so much to say, but spend the 16 bucks or so and you won't be disappointed that's for sure.

I had been looking for a small mic that would be mac compatible I wanted something good so I purchased SmartLav for $85! Not worth it it feels cheap and the cord is very short plus it disnt work with my Mac I tried purchasing a splitter. Then I found the Boya lavalier mic!! It worked great out of the box and sounds great! It is easy to put together and the cord is very long, doesn't feel flimsy or cheap it is very good quality and sounds great when making YouTube videos which is why I purchased it, works with my Mac, iPhone and iPad and God knows what else.
It is a great microphone and the price is right for $20 you can't go wrong it is better then all those expensive mic's out there.

I had been using a Lavalier with a large mic fitting that I had fitted an adapter for the miniature plug. I just bought a new video camera and the new mic plug was in a position where it would not take the adapter. Having the miniature plug is brilliant as is the button battery to power it.

Be sure to carry extra batteries. The mic itself is very good but it was picking up too many breath noises as I paused. It turned out it was because I had the camera mic setting on auto, so each time the volume was going up when I wasn't talking. Problem solved but those damn wind foam covers they never stay on. I fasten mine down with a plastic pull tight.

For a lav mic that was retailing for under £15 at the time of purchase and writing of this review, I'm blown away by the quality of audio this produces! I'm not going to pretend this is on a level with something like Rode, but if you're starting out in videography and want some inexpensive equipment to get you started, without sounding like absolute rubbish, you can't go much wrong with this mic. I've left a video review so you can hear the quality of the audio for yourself and make an informed purchasing decision.

I watched some comparison videos online and was quietly optimistic when I ordered this but unfortunately when I started recording with it I found the recordings to include a noticeable hiss and general background static. Searched some forums and turned off bluetooth (and even mobile data) as suggested by some, but the noise and static persisted. It's not terrible and is a definite improvement on the phone's internal mic but in like for like recordings in the same condition I found my hands-free mobile headphones to record better quality.

This was really easy to set up, just fit the battery, plug in to the camera, switch on and away we go. Works perfectly with my Nikon D7500 shooting video. Decent length of cable for pieces to camera. Secure clip that doesn't snag my shirt. Good directionality and being close to the speaker means you can eliminate more background. I've got useable sound clips despite a school playing ground behind us and an extension being built next door! The best sound seems to be outdoors, but that could be because I don't have an acoustically neutral room. Reasonable bass and good mid- and high- range tones. Very much worth the price!
