Of these headphones, I have to say, the He400i stands out! First off, they are not that heavier, the headband rests very comfortably over the head preventing any kind of strain, the ear pads are by far the most comfortable in this group, and the sound quality is amaaaaazing!! The biggest revelation I had while listening to many of my favorite songs was that how much detailed the the songs actually were. It almost felt like I was listening to a different version of the songs! That is the level of detail that these headphones brings out. I also like the sound stage it provides as it immerses you in the music thoroughly.
I do active and passive listening to the songs .. with passive listening when I am doing some chores around the house. Even when doing passive listening, the music flowing through these headphones frequently grabbed my attention and made me stop what I was doing, close my eyes and just listen till the remainder of the song. It is just that good.
If anyone is still contemplating buying these phones, all I have to say is, do yourself a favor and just go for it. The fully covering (Circumaural) ear pads alone is reason enough to get this. This, combined with how comfortable and fatigue less these are over long sessions, combined with the amazing sound quality these provide makes it a real winner in my eyes (or should I say ears? ).
One thing to note is that.. as far as planars are concerned, these headphones are very easy to drive. I was able to get a good quality output from the headphone even without an Amp or a DAC attached. However, you do need a good amp to bring the best out of these headphones. A Modi 2/ Magni 2 combo is an excellent option.. If you are on a budget, just get an amp like the Fiio A3 (which is really awesome for the price btw).
I am just happy that I did go for these headphones and am looking forward to hours and hours of listening and re-discovering all the beautiful songs that I have loved for so many years!

ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM LAST JUNE:
I've owned these for 3 months and listen with them 3 or 4 days per week. I love them. Best headphones I've ever owned or heard. Build quality and aesthetics are certainly adequate; there's a bit more plastic than I'd like at this price point. But they sound amazing, and I expect they'll hold up over the long run.
I use them to listen to LPs on my home stereo (Cambridge CXA80 integrated amp and Rega Planar 3 turntable) and FLACs or better on my MacBook Pro with Dragonfly Red DAC. They also sound great with my iPhone 7 Plus using the Dragonfly and an Apple USB camera connector dongle.
I also have the Sennheiser HD650 (and a few lesser headphones). The HD650 is an older model that is in roughly the same price range and has a great reputation and lots of stellar reviews. The HD650's and the HE400i's are both great, it's really a matter of opinion which you prefer. Both are airy with a lovely soundstage and exceptional clarity. But the HE400i's are more lively in my opinion, more engaging. The highs of the Senn HD650's are recessed, and the overall sound signature to me is a bit dull compared to the HE400i's. This is just my opinion, of course, others may disagree and their opinions are no less valid than mine.
And that's precisely why you should audition these and a few others in the same price range. That's hard to do, of course, which is why you're reading lots of user reviews.
When you read user reviews of any headphones, try to determine what the reviewers are comparing them to. A 5-star review for a headphone might mean it's an excellent headphone, but it might also mean the reviewer is comparing them with mass-market Beats or the ear buds that came with their smart phone.
Good luck with your purchase decision!
Top reviews from other countries

Give them a time to break-in and they will deliver fantastic clear sound.
The big disadvantage is that HIFIman doesn't recognise Amazon as their dealer so they are not cover by their warranty.
The other issue is the headphone cable.
This is the next version of HE400i with a 1 x 3.5 mm jack to 2 x 3.5 mm jack. Cable is very stiff and quite short. An angled jack is a mistake if you are listening from you amplifier or computer. It maybe OK if you are listening from a mobile device.
Because of the new cable, there are no aftermarket replacements. All of them are for the old one (1 x 3.5 mm to 2 x 2.5 mm jack) so be careful when you are buying them and double check which version you need.
Because of the above I gave 4 out of 5 stars. If the cable would be a little bit longer, more flexible and with the straight jack then totally 5 out of 5.

So the 4 stars on these are because you need to invest more money in order to make them sound as good as they can be. Oh and because they were squeezing my head sooo hard I had to physically unbend them.
All in all, good headphones but after you tweak them, then they become great.

Edit: the HE400s are now out of production thus became more expensive than the HE400i, themselves on their way out. At their current selling price, there’s NOTHING that matches their performance. The HiFiMan Sundaras are the new, more refined sounding HE400 series replacements but they sell for more than double the price. End of Edit.
You hear some people complaining how detailed they sound and I have to wonder why. I'm a sucker for detail, especially the high frequency kind and these headphones deliver detail in spades. I'm thinking, generally I would like to hear everything on the recording instead of not, and if it is too much and I'm bothered, there are filters which can take care of that. Much like a picture, I'd rather have the original sharp than blurry, as detail can be filtered out but it can never be added on.
(Addendum after some long listening sessions)
The quality of the treble should also be mentioned here. The degree of control, especially on good amplification is excellent. Notes have a good crisp attack edge which does not "fuzz" on decay so sibilance is particularly well controlled, S never sounds like Shh (at least not on decent mastered recordings) resulting in a non fatiguing clarity that's sometimes missing from some of the more conventional designs.
At the other end of the spectrum, the bass is surprisingly extended (unexpectedly so, considering the the general "vibe" surrounding planar technology) and extremely well articulated. In fact, in absolute terms it is not far from my PSB pair in extension while being faster, with a better leading edge and more articulate. Compared to the Grados I own and the AKGs the bass is in all respects much better.
This is a headphone that has a bite on Rock and it's mellow on Classical. It grooves on Funk and it wails on Blues. And it is comfortable, the asymmetric pads work well so one can immerse in their music collection and forget they are even wearing them. Yep. that good.
Associated equipment : Sources: Analog:Oracle Deplhi/ Alphason HR-100S/ Ortofon 2M Bronze, Nak1000 / Digital: PC/MAC/ JRiver/ Foobar2000/ Arcam rDAC/ Fiio E17 Alpen/ Arcam CD73/ Amplification: Fiio E17 Alpen/ Accuphase C200 (headphone output)/ Sansui AU999 (headphone output)

In short. Great sounding headphones with horrible quality accessories (wires). I will update this if they send me a new cord as there is a warranty that I signed up for.

You can drive these with most phones and laptops, but they really need a dedicated headphone amp to sound their best (as is the case for all good quality headphones). Add a discrete DAC to the signal chain and you will be in music heaven.
NOTE: if you are used to cheap consumer headphones expect to ask, "where's the bass?". Most cheap headphones significantly increase the base; good quality headphones are about reproducing the track exactly as it was mastered without changes.
