It took forever to get the app to connect to my mobile account. When I was finally able to connect, I realized you need to have the Spotify premium to really be able to do much of anything with this app. With Amazon Prime, I have Amazon Music, which is a much better app that works better, allows access to more music, and doesn't require an additional subscription. If you don't have Amazon Prime, I suggest either getting it, or downloading Pandora or YouTube instead. This was not worth the hassle.

For years and years I listened to the same music over and over. I'm pretty sure I had about 200 different songs completely memorized that I had listened to from high school all the way into my 30s. Spotify has opened up new songs into my life and also podcast. It makes recommendations based on what I listen to, and I have to say the recommendations are excellent! I also like that it makes playlists for me automatically based on what I listen to. In addition to this, I'm able to make my own playlist and listen to just what I want to listen to, when I want to listen to it. Occasionally I'll be in an area where my cell phone signal will be weak, so it's really nice to be able to have songs downloaded on my phone as well. I do have to say that when I do have a strong cell phone signal, that the Spotify music streaming servers are excellent! I can press play to start a song and the music will continue to play flawlessly. When using the Spotify app, the layout just makes sense. I'm able to go through my different playlists easily, and able to find new songs without any problem. The settings menu is very easy to navigate, and also allows a lot of fine-tuning which I think is a really nice feature for the user. Speaking of the settings, I especially like that I can normalize the volume for all tracks, which basically means it will set the same volume for every single track that is played. I can't tell you how valuable this is, especially if I'm playing music on a Bluetooth speaker and don't have this feature on, and out of nowhere the next song is ridiculously loud and scares me and everyone else. It's so nice to just have the volume normalized automatically and not have to worry about it. Another feature I really like on the Spotify app, is the car mode, and I also like how it can integrate with other navigation apps.I use Spotify between two and three hours a day and I've never had it crash either, so I'm definitely happy with it.
There's a reason they're the king of music streaming services and I've tried all the relevant major players numerous times as well as some of the lesser known ones also. The one thing I'm hoping for is HD streaming, but I've heard that will be coming shortly. They have every feature you can think of, but it's the cross platform streaming where they shine. iOS, Android, and PC, and works well with the Alexa integration I have in my home. I hope they clean up the user interface in the future, however, it's not a deal breaker or a reason to knock off a star. I'm sure most people would be happy with any of the other major players out there, but all they're doing is trying to play catch up here. They say imitation is the best form of flattery. Stick with Spotify. There's a reason they're number one.

When it works, it works well; however, 9 times out of 10 it doesn't. I ask Alexa to play [insert artist name], she says "Here's [insert artist name] on Spotify", and then... nothing. Silence. So I have to ask a second time, and this time she plays it. I have no idea why this happens, but it happens very nearly every time.
The problem persists on a variety of Echo devices. I have the premium Spotify subscription, so It's not a glitch caused by ad insertion. It's very annoying. It never happens with Amazon Music, or Soma FM, or TuneIn, or any other music streaming skill, so I can only surmise that it's a problem with the Spotify skill.
This app has a lot of music that prime music doesn't have. And it's amazing that I can listen to songs I wouldn't have had access to otherwise. Though to be fair I find prime has some that this doesn't. So I'm happy to have both. Wish I knew about this free app before buying a soundtrack to a show I loved. Since it of course is here. I'm finding so much to listen to that is obscure and wouldn't be available without spending a fortune on import cd's. With both prime and this I'll never need to buy another cd or streaming album again. The ads are hardly relevant and not particularly intrusive. And I keep it on in the background while working and barely notice the ads at all. Wish I knew about this app sooner.
Spotify allows you to use your own files as well as streaming files and if you have an account you can download them locally just not have the MP3 files it scatters them all over the place and proprietary file format. It is very useful if you have Wi-Fi and not much data you can download the music you listen to all the time while you're on Wi-Fi and then listen to it while you are away from the Wi-Fi access point and would normally use data and it will just run off your phone or PC memory.

Way better than pandora. My gf has sirrius and it is good too, but in my opinion Spotify beats it, too. It is excellent for folks like me that will listen all day. It can be set to play a single artist/band or, as I like to set it, to start with the band/playlist I choose and continue with artists similar to the one I picked. Pandora tries, but wanders too far afield.
The only negative I find is if you once play something you don't like (for a houseguest for instance), it remains in your suggestions for a very long time.
I love Spotify, but the Firestick app has an annoying problem. Every now and then the music drops out (just goes silent) for less than a second and then resumes. My Firestick is wired to my router and there is plenty of bandwidth, so it is not a buffering issue. These irritating drop-outs are absent on my PC and my Roku apps (both devices are connected via WiFi). I reckon I'll just use the other platforms that work and abandon using Firestick for this app.

Spotify has over 50 million tracks and adds around 4000 new tracks per day, so you can generally find most mainstream tracks from artists. The sound quality is good, but if your a top end soundafile with £300 headphones well it's maybe not for you. Though with 180 million users and over 80 million paid users like myself it's doing something right. It has a single users subscription for £9.99 or student for £4.99. or duo for £12.99 or family subscription for £14.99 that gives you 6 premium accounts, so working out at £2.50 mark per user. It's supported by Sonos speakers and you can a high level of download for a small extra cost to take advantage of the speaker if required. The difference between free and premium is the usual no advertising and allow you to have off line access to pre downloaded content. It compentention is Apple music and Dezzer application with similar pricing and both running 3 month free trial to premium services with both having around 70+ million songs and having free versions. Ive only used Dezzer previously and was of similar quantity. The other option is Tidal which is more street music and Jay-z is involved. I have used Spotify for 3 years now and it's the best services for overall content, quality and value for money. Though I guess you Apple devotees will stick with what you know

I'm using the free version to try this before and if I upgrade to premium, firstly I don't like that you can't just ask to play a pacific song, I don't like that everything is mixed up from original to live to acoustic to unknown artist, I made a play list to try it out that's when I noticed that a lot of the songs are not by original artists or was a live version, 1 thing that I really hate ( this is set up to a firecube and a echo dot) when you ask it ti play a song all you is it says I found this station I don't want a station I want to listen to the song, I don't know if you can ask it to play 1 song in premium so I will give it a go and see but if it won't do this then I will stick with Amazon music, at least that does it first time every time.

This Spotify TV app for the Amazon Firestick is brilliant and easy to use with the remote control, when finding your library of music and playing them. Good to have it on a big screen and sound quality is first class. Lots of choice of artists and able to build a personal library. On a few albums I have in the library (one being Anka by Paul Anka, it gives info on the tunes). Highly recommend.

Spotify have been very clever in getting their software/firmware built in so many devices. Their app is also great, especially the auto generated playlists, once you have picked a few tracks/albums. But it's naughty they don't offer a discount on paying an annual subscription, fixed at £9.99 per month. What I do is buy gift cards, at a discount, and add them to my premium account. Your allowed to pay in up to 18 months in advance using gift cards. This can save you up to 55% on the annual cost.

Just signed in ...already have a family account which is good value for 5 persons. Single person subscription is too expensive. User interface and volume control could be a little better considering how much profit they make. I have all my music in one place now good for making up a play list for dinner parties or general parties.....my friends often ask where is the DJ the choice of music is excellent. Even got to Bluetooth play list to the sound system in a local restaurant ...everyone enjoyed it instead of the usual elevator music. All good.
