Fluval fx6 is a high performance canister filter with many outstanding features designed to make aquarium fish keeping easier and more convenient than ever. This super capacity yet compact canister filter has a pump output of 925 gallons of water and has a filter circulation of 563 GPH which both work to produce cleaner and healthier results. Filtering material can easily be placed in a removable stack of media baskets which is at the heart of Fluval's multistage filtration. The baskets are precision-engineered to eliminate water by-pass, making filtration more efficient. The baskets can hold a total of 5.9 Liters of media and can be stacked in the precise combination of layers that will work best for your aquarium. Each one is lined with a foam insert for effective mechanical pre-filtering. Instant-Release t-handles let you lift and separate the baskets quickly and easily, making routine maintenance simpler. Fluval fx6 also features smart pump technology, which provides optimal filter performance. This advanced technological feature employs an electronic circuit board that continually monitors the pump. Impeller speed and force are constantly measured to ensure powerful output and energy efficiency. It also manages the filter's self-starting feature and evacuates air that may enter or build up within the filtration system. On a 12-hour cycle, the pump will pause and allow trapped air to escape, ensuring the best filtration efficiency at all times. Only 21" in height, Fluval fx6 fits under most aquariums.
Top customer reviews
That said the filter is excellent and I hope to report back with great things.
I ran this filter for about 6 months and the motor head cover had bowed in. The impeller cover keeps falling out, already breaking one ipleller blade. The filter does not function properly anymore so I had to go back to my old 306 fluval.
I have contacted customer service and yet to hear back. If I could give these guys 0 stars I would.
I am not one to leave bad reviews but spending $200 on something and it only lasting 6 months is frustrating. I would buy it from a store such as petsmart that will actually back their product.
I can't blame Monster Pets for the rare case of a bad Fluval filter, but I can praise Tom and the company for service above and beyond !!!
I'd also like to comment on the bonus media they add to this package. Some people have complained that it is low quality media and I don't agree. I'm not very big on the bio balls, but the ceramic cylinders (for the growth of friendly bacteria) and the carbon bags, were generous in size and perfectly adequate in function...
Next time - although that will be a looooooooong time from now given how long these Fluval filters last! - I might skip the "kit" packaging and just buy the filter set. The basic filter comes with some Fluval media and supplies and the added materials in this "kit" packaging are odd-brand Chinese materials that I'm a bit reluctant to use in my tank. And at any rate, charcoal and absorbing media are inexpensive enough that I doubt the extra stuff here is worth what's being charged over and above the price of the basic filter set.
