The BROADBAND VHF/UHF Dual Band Antenna CA-2x4SRNMO is an antenna designed for those needing communications on the ham radio, land mobile, Marine and GMRS frequency ranges. The coverage area and gain provided by the DualBand CA-2x4SRNMO is remarkable. Antenna has a spring loaded fold-over hinge, built into the base section of the antenna. You can simply lift the element up out of the socket , and lay the antenna whip down in order to enter garages, parking structures etc...The hinge rotates 360 deg inside the socket so it will fold in the direction needed. Requires an Optional NMO Mount / Cable for installation.

Here's a quick review on my brand new Dual Band Comet antenna. So my previous antenna was a Comet SBB-2 and that antenna had some pretty incredible range on it. So when I bought the Comet CA-2X4SR, I expected nothing more than perfection. Last night I hit a repeater that was 272 miles away from me, along with the incredible build quality of this antenna. I would have to definitely recommend getting this if you have a amateur radio and are looking for a mobile antenna. It comes in both the NMO Mounting option (what I have) and the PL-259 mount for magnetic mounts.

Can't get below 1:8: on vhf and it's relatively narrow. Most of vhf is around 2 and up and completely unusable and sucks for rx. I think it was showing 5 around 160 so buyer beware... Additionally the antenna I received already had Nick's and scratches so you will likely recieve a damaged returned antenna like I did.

NMO mount is not water tight.

Every other NMO antenna I have ever bought had a rubber seal that went between the antenna base and the area surrounding the NMO mount. Those seals served the purposes of keeping out water and protecting the painted area around the NMO mount.

This antenna does not have that type of seal. It does have a small rubber gasket (much like a water hose) that fits between the threaded portion of the NMO mount and the antenna. While this may insulate the NMO mount from the antenna, it does nothing to keep the water out or protect the cars paint.

Great wideband

Seems to have comparable reception to other mobile antennas I’ve used, but the wideband range is really what I got it for. Under 2:1 SWR in all ranges advertised PLUS the 220 band - wasn’t expecting that! I have yet to try it with the 220 band, but it registered less than 1.5:1 swr over the whole band on my antenna. GMRS repeater frequencies (467.xxx) are just above 2:1 swr, but it is not advertised to for transmitting in this range, so I can’t fault it for that.
It seems plenty sturdy, but I’ll probably be adding the optional spring section to avoid bending it if I clip tree branches etc.
I will add an update after I get more use with it.

Excellent dual band antenna.Fit right on my NMO door mount. I eventually bought the spring as you will see in the pictures.I recommend getting the spring. I bought this antenna to replace a dual band that looked like a cell phone antenna It is a gain antenna with Gain: 3.8/6.2dB vhf/uhf and you can pick up stations further away. I use vhf for analog on my FT-7800 and uhf on my TYT MD - 380. I recommend this antenna. It is black and you can hardly even see it unless you are close.I highly recommend this antenna.

very effective 144/440 antenna. NMO mount on top on pickup cab. Yes, it came disassembled (split in half) to save on shipping - but posed no problems on install. 1.2:1 to 1.3:1 SWR across full bands with no further adjustments. Fold over is very convenient (but don't forget in Height limited locales), especially those valet situations.
