- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2021Color: RedburstVerified PurchaseI absolutely love my new Glen Burton Strat. It’s beautiful and plays well. It has that Strat look, feel and sound. The only things I’ve added were strap locks and locking tuners. The action was great out of the box - I tweaked it gently. Played in worship service today for first time - Sounded so nice. Great bargain for beginner and advanced player. I’ve been playing for over 40 years. This is not just a beginner guitar. Quality instrument.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2022Color: BlueburstVerified PurchaseThe guitar is overall well built, have had several of this model, some have decent flame tops, others very little. Comfortable, glossy smooth neck, they come set up decent, but need a little fret end filing, truss rod adjustment, tuned and intonated. Chrome tuners are just ok, frets are medium, tremelo works for some light twanging. None of the amps I received worked, wiring to the on/off switch loose or disconnected. Easy fix, but they should improve connections or soder them. The gig bag is just a thin dust cover, other accessories useful, especially for a beginner.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2021Color: BlackVerified PurchaseThe guitars fine didn’t have any scratches at all which I saw people complaining about, and the amp works fine. The only thing is it has like a grey tiger striping pattern and it was supposed to just be all black but i don’t really care about it. Oh and the guitar bag is garbage

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2023Color: RedburstVerified Purchaseouter box was destroyed tunners are junk nut is dut to deep on low E the neck is a 24.75 scale but set to 25.5 so all the frets are in the wrong place i used a neck straightedg that has the fret cutout for each scale and the 25.5 scale does not fit but the 24.75 does so all your notes will be off just a bit making it a usless pile of crap
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2019Color: BlackVerified PurchasePerfect guitar for the Electric Beginner! Looks and sounds great for the upcoming star, but the package that it comes with is a NO for sure. The Guitar and Bar is all your gonna want/need to use because the rest of the " Package" is seriously a waste of time trying to use it. The case might as well be a Hefty Trash Bag, tuner was WAY off for tuning the guitar, the Amplifier was all beat up looking with so much fuzz in the sound and I didn't trust the strap not to rip by the way it looked and felt. Guitar great package was a no for me, that's why I gave it 4 stars and not 5, basing it all on the PACKAGE order and not just the Glen Burton guitar.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2021Color: BlueburstVerified PurchaseI bought this combo "Used - Very Good", I'd rate it as "Used - Acceptable", as there are visible dings in the guitar's body, and a very visible split in the amp's finish. The outer layer of packaging was in good condition, the inner layer was in awful shape.
Amp:
The headphone jack doesn't work (makes a connection while inserting the plug then loses it with ~1/8" left to go). Other than that, the amp seems ok to my untrained ear. It wasn't 100% clear from the photos so I'll mention it here: the amp I received needs to be plugged in, it's not battery operated.
Bag:
This bag is a plasticky canvas cover, not a case; it might keep the dust out, and it might keep the rain off a guitar between your car and your house, but that's about all the protection I'd expect it to provide. The external pocket is big enough to hold cables, a set of strings, the vibrato bar, etc, but I'd hesitate to put anything solid in there; there's little there to protect the guitar from the pocket's contents.
Guitar:
The nut is apparently a soft plastic, judging by the burrs coming off of it after tuning. The neck truss rod needed adjustment, though that could be attributed to shipping through cold weather.
The only setup done before it reached me was apparently putting the strings on. The strings weren't stretched; it took several attempts before it would hold its tuning. It looks like someone tried to bring the D string's bridge all the way up then stripped one of the hex screws. Other than that the bridge was left in a straight line instead of following the neck's curve, vertically. Horizontally, it was left in a straight-from-the-factory stair step configuration, leaving several strings noticeably out of tune by the 12th fret.
After setup, it sounds ok to me. The frets aren't *sharp* along the edge you slide your thumb on, but I'm planning on putting on a little elbow grease to smooth them down for comfort's sake.
The vibrato bar is either loose, or in the wrong position when tight, you can put a spring (not included) in the hole before screwing it in to fix that.
Misc:
The kit includes a cheap digital tuner. BATTERY NOT INCLUDED, it takes one CR2032 coin cell. Seems to work.
Nothing to say about the strap, extra strings (haven't used them yet), picks (cheap plastic), hex keys, or cable.
Overall:
The amp, guitar, bag, and tuner are all branded "Glen Burton". There's no serial number on anything that I could find.
I paid $72 USD for this combo, I think it's worth about that. I see it's being advertised for up to $300 now, though, definitely don't waste your money. A beginner willing to learn out how to set up a guitar may find this acceptable, others may prefer to pay a luthier ~$50 to get it set up properly.
