- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2025Model: SN-2549 0.08-1.0mm²Verified PurchaseThis is a really quality crimp tool, comfortable, solid and well balanced. It's kinda luxurious TBH. It wont do all the work for you and it takes some practice and can be a bit fiddly at times to get the doohicky positioned in the right slot (story of my life) but then you squeeze and its perfectly crimped. As far as these things go it's top notch. This is one you can put in your will even if your only intent is to mess with your kids.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2025Model: SN-025 AWG28-18Verified PurchaseAfter watching some YouTube videos, I am getting perfect Dupont crimps from AWG21 to AWG32. The trick is to close the insulation wings with needle noise pliers until the wings are nearly parallel to each other, hook then on the step of the crimper, and carefully ratchet the crimper until the jaws just hold the crimp in place. Then grab the wire a jaw thickness from its end, insert, and close the crimper completely, done.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2025Model: SN-2549 0.08-1.0mm²Verified PurchaseGreat crimpers, so long as you insert the connector correctly and i the correct size, the ratcheting action ensures that you will have a good crimp. Made working with JST connections a breeze!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2025Model: SN-28B 28-18AWGVerified PurchaseI bought mine in 2021 and only used it a couple of times so I did not get enough experience until today when I started making wires in earnest.
Mine does not form the O crimp properly, that being the one at the insulation end of the connector. I am using 24ga silicone insulated wire which is very flexible, tinned and all around excellent. But this insulation is squishy and while the O crimp I think is intended to go around the insulation I cannot do that or the insulation squishes out and prevents the connector from sliding into its shield.
In fact it’s not an O crimp at all, it’s just a bigger B crimp. On mine that bigger B is malformed, I think because of a defect on the hammer jaw. (One jaw moves which I call the hammer and the other remains stationary which I call the anvil. The anvil forms the curves of both the O and B crimp except as I say they’re really both B’s).
The defect is in the casting and looks like it forms both an inclusion and a drop out which is to say one bit of it makes the channel smaller and the other bigger but these are by very small amounts. I think the malformation distorts the way the material flows in the die because one half of the O-which-is-really-just-a-bigger-B is malformed and the other isn’t. The top loop is squashed so the connector will not slide into the shield and requires fussing with pliers to get the shape right.
The only way I can get a usable crimp is by using the 28-24ga jaws, setting the connector depth as recommended, crimping it and then pushing the connector in farther so the O crimp is in the B hammer/anvil and crimping it again. This is done with insulation stripped far enough that it’s bare wire through both the O and B areas (about 5mm).
The resulting crimps are consistent, very strong and insert easily.
I have only used these on one vendors connectors (gikfun) which I got at the same time as this crimper and they’re excellent but they state in the listing they’re for 22ga wire (and I’m using 24ga). Mine had the same behavior with 22ga silicone wire, I just didn’t go far enough in testing to find out if the same double-crimp solves it.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2016Model: SN-28B 28-18AWGVerified PurchaseThere's that old adage, "use the right tool for the job"; it definitely applies when working with wiring/electronics! I needed to replace connector pins on some solid-state circuit boards in a 1977 pinball machine, and thought I could go at it with carefully with needle-nose pliers. While I managed to get one or two pins crimped on the wire, it was something of a pain (ok, that's an understatement), it took quite a while, and I had little confidence in the sloppy finished product. When the realization hit me that I had at least 30 more of these to do, I decided to bite the bullet and find the right tool -- and this was it.
Some of these connector pins are small and not easy to handle, especially with larger fingers. In addition, unless you have three hands, it's a tricky process -- since you'd need to hold the pin, the wire, and the tool all at once. Not so, with this tool! It ratchets through its function, which means you can insert the pin in the jaws, and squeeze the handle to the first ratchet step -- so the jaws grab & hold the connector pin in place. This allows you to then feed/position the wire in with one hand, and squeeze the handles with the other to complete the crimp. And yes, it can be done -- or at least started -- with one hand. Once the crimp has begun (which holds the wire in place), you can then use two hands to complete the squeeze on the tool. When the crimp is complete, the tool automatically releases.
Also worthy of note: The tool has three different sizes built into the jaws, to accommodate different size wires/pins. Each jaw has a little 'step' to help you align the wire & sheath properly for an ideal crimp.
I finished all my connector pins in very little time, and all the crimps looked beautiful. All the updated connectors functioned flawlessly. I HIGHLY recommend this tool.
