Digging the little uke

Digging the little uke
I bought this Uke bass as a time killer while I’m working on the road. For the first couple weeks playing it only acoustically, I wasn’t too bummed by the loudness or depth of sound (the other people in the hotel were even happier....lol) and like others have stated those Aquila strings take some getting used to. There is fret buzz but it’s controllable, just need to press on the strings a little harder....the E string is like a telephone pole guy wire 😂. The first time I plugged it into my amp I thought it was just going to be kinda chintzy for what I paid for it but DAMN!! I love this little baby bass.
Thank you for your feedback

I play a baritone Ukelele, I'd never had a Bass, i am learning on this instrument. I bought it unsure what to expect and knowing only that I could not afford to spend several perhaps many hundreds of dollars on an experiment to try learning to play a bass. Tuning takes a little persistence. U-Base strings generally take their time settling down. But everything else about this instrument has exceeded my expectations. I doubt that I will ever need a better one. It looks good and works just like it is supposed to. I think to practice in a normally noisy environment, you may need a little bit of amplification to hear well the lowest notes you will be playing . I am using a tiny 12 V / battery Nux amp that I sometimes use with my Baritone to play outdoors in small group jams. it is not a Bass amp but just barely turned up, it works fine to just beef up the Hadean's lowest notes acoustic level to be louder than the background level of my air-conditioning.

I can't contribute much more than what others have said, but it is one heck of a fun bass! I WILL say that if or when you change strings, watch some YouTube videos on the details, which I watched before I made the plunge. It is a bit neck heavy, due to the tuning machines, so I plan to put a strap on it, which is essential if you're going to stand up, as I have for my baritone uke and regular uke, which is quite small. Of course, you have to install your own strap buttons, but most musicians are handy enough to do same. I was afraid that I might have to put some WD-40 on a cloth and lightly rub the strings so I could slide, but the pre-installed Aquila Nylgut strings are smooth and slidey as is. It also fits into my baritone uke gig bag, which is helpful, although I want to buy a proper case for this thing. I also wanted a bit longer scale, in this case, about 23 inches, as far as bass ukes go. I have not often liked the sound of electric bass guitars, but this has a warmer tone, and it is a heck of a lot easier to lug about with a small bass amp, (like the Roland Micro Cube) than an upright, which, I also own. Need I say the playing technique is A LOT easier than upright bass? Everybody with some guitar technique who wants to make bedroom demo songs should get one!

I was shopping for the Kala U-bass and went with this based on the reviews. I was very pleased. Aesthetically pleasing and fun to play for sure. The only drawback is that behemoth low string. It buzzes and hits the fretboard pretty constantly. Can be tough to pluck a clean note off of it. I only play this acoustically so Im not sure how this translates plugged in. It is used for my own personal enjoyment and for finger work and practice and in that respect I still very much enjoy this product. That giant rubber string on such a small instrument has got to be near impossible to "perfect" so I dont fault manufacturer or consider this a defect, more of a trade off. Tuner seems to have trouble with the low scale and appears to simply be a tuner for use with ukuleles. I ended up using another tuner with this thing. It may do the trick with patience, but left me searching for my own tuner. This is a great work out for the fingers to play as the large soft strings are comfortable to play but require plenty of finger muscle use leading to a good work out for my digits. Would definitely buy again. a four star product regardless of price. 5 star value.

This an awesome value for the money! I was sceptical, but it does indeed sound and play very well! The fret buzz that some people mentioned is really pretty minimal, and you can remedy it by being careful on your finger placement. As mentioned by others, it does not project well unamplified, but plug it in, and Wow! Pretty amazing tone. I bought this to take on my boat this summer, and have ordered a Tonewood Amp to try with it, which I am hoping will allow me to play it "unplugged". If you are unsure about buying this...DON'T BE! It's probably the best bargain out there!

I read the positive reviews and ordered it. It looks nice but it buzzes terribly. The instrument is quite unplayable. Amplified it sounds awful.
I returned it. On that note, read Rondo return policy CAREFULLY. Make sure you keep the box it came in or an appropriate return box will cost a bundle.

I bought my first one and as a beginner on bass, experienced the fret buzz so I sold it. The Hadeen was a better quality then the Kala and better electronics, in my opinion. I bought another one, but fretless. No buzz. But, my granddaughters wanted to learn the bass so I gave it to them and found the Hadeen no longer makes them. Bought a fretted Bat King which sounds and plays great. Learning to play better by staying in the center of the frets.

The price, can't be beat..Sounds great amplified...However, if you get one, be prepared to give it some love... Mine had untrimed sharp fret ends which I carefully filed to edge of the neck. The action was quite high and intonation off, lowering the nut helped greatly. The trap door mount in back was poor glued causing said door to fall in the body, lastly, the pre-amp failure , which Rhonda music said the would replace at no charge. Thank you Rhondo music ( great five star customer service ) but don't let my troubles sway you . Its only money, spend yours wisely........
