Dai’s Dark Valentine
She has enough love to warm his cynical heart, he has enough dark power to destroy everything and everyone in reach. To save her, he might just have to use it.
What happens when a sheltered cat-shifter and a dark fey come together?
Three-hundred years is a long time, but left to its own devices, what began as the vendetta of one man can grow to encompass even more formidable hatred.
Daitre Salons is a beautiful but naïve heiress whose true heritage has been kept secret even from her. Now, her abilities are emerging and her father’s enemies want her dead, but what bothers her most is that her new husband “in name only” insists on treating her like a child.
Joban Beaucoup, professional guard to the Salons family, and dark fey (alternate spelling from Vodouin origin), has chosen to leave the quaint yet suffocating French town of his orphan-childhood and venture to the Americas, but he needs one thing he cannot concoct, despite his magical abilities – a wife.
When Joban agrees to marry Daitre and take her to the Americas with him, he carries her three-thousand miles away, then whisks her three-hundred years into the future to assure her safety, but while Daitre struggles to adjust to this strange new world, manage her newfound powers, and make peace with her feelings for Joban, Joban learns that even here, their enemies have followed them, now more deadly than ever.

I would have loved to see this story longer and more in depth or even a series.
Dai's father has been keeping a secret from her she must learn to control.
She has secret feelings for the family guard Joban that watches over her and Joban keeps his feelings hidden from her too.
She has to marry him and go to the future to keep her safe from her vengeful Uncle and his followers.
Joban also needs an anchor to come back to, his beinging over protective is wearing on her nerves along with her needing to hear him say he loves her.
Now there in more danger than before because they've been followed and there is more secrets for both of them.
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book.
In an effort to protect Daitre from his enemies, her father, Alain announces her betrothal to his Captain of the Guards, Joban. Joban has protected Daitre for years, standing by stoically and aloof as she works in the local orphanage. Feeling resentful at his apparent lack of tender emotions towards her and with little choice, Daitre marries Joban before being whisked to present day New Orleans 300 years into their future. The underlying tone of the book even in the modern day has the feel of an historical. The book’s pace is fairly even gradually increasing as the suspense and action pick up. Towards the end the pace moves much more quickly as conflicts come to a head and resolutions are made. Over time Daitre comes to recognize that Joban’s actions speak louder than the words she longs to hear. Joban finds Daitre is all he needs to be grounded in the here and now. Overall this was a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a bit a magic in their reading. Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

Daitre is reliant upon Joban for her protection as a target of the SANs group that are targeting Fey. After being transported to 2017 she has to adapt and develop as well as control her abilities as a Fey shifter.
Joban is distant in the beginning which confuses and frustrates Daitre but they slowly become closer. As they begin to express their love for one another they must also deal with the dangers surrounding them.
If you enjoy paranormal suspenseful romantic stories then you will enjoy this book. I would enjoy reading further in this world of Fey and learn more of Daitre's and Joban's story.

this is a paranormal romance with a touch of suspense mixed in ~ we start out in the eighteenth century and end up in the twenty-first century. quite a twist
very original storyline. I enjoyed how the story flowed.
Joban works for Daitre's father in 18th century France as Daitre's bodyguard. He has been in love with her for years but believes she hates him. Daitre's father and Joban come to an agreement for Joban to marry Daitre to keep her safe from her father's enemies.
Joban has the ability to time travel as he is Fey hence them ending up in the 21st century. unfortunately their enemies have followed them to New Orleans, 2017. Joban must find a way to keep Daitre safe and teach her to control her shifting into her cat as she is just coming into her powers while trying to figure out a way to rid themselves of the enemy for good.
I enjoyed this book and hope that the author gives us a sneak into their future lives.
