Was a reluctance purchase due to the price and I did try a third party one first. The third party one was well made but there was insufficient space between the grip and the lens. The Olympus one is a well crafted and sits well in the hand. I bought as I wanted more balance with the Panasonic 100-300 attached. I may add the battery grip later for convenience but I use 4/3 to avoid the bulk so may be a case of taking it on and off for battery replacement. Even with that inconvenience, it is well worth it over the generic ones. Unlike other grips, these rarely come up secondhand which should tel you everything.

Transforms handling!
This is expensive but in my opinion, worth it. It really does transform the handling of the camera. I always use a simple (Gordy's) wrist strap with all my cameras rather than a neck strap. Since I am constantly holding the camera when it's out of the bag, the position of my fingers relative to the camera is critical to comfort. For me this grip is near perfect in that regard and I can walk around all day holding the camera without get cramp in my fingers. The shutter button and front control wheel are at just the right angle and for video nuts, the grip adds a headphone socket. The only negative is that you have to remove the grip to change the battery but that doesn't bother me as it only takes a few seconds.

This grip certainly makes it easier to hold the camera & I would recommend it to anyone with an E-M5 II however you should be aware that if you are taking a lot of pictures, you need to remove the grip to swap batteries.

I refer this to the grip that comes with the EM1. It is more secure and also can be used with the battery part that comes with the EM5 version 1. One point knocked off because you have to remove the grip to change battery unless you also have the battery holder. The EM5 and EM5ii for my medium sized hands are too fiddly without a grip. Adding the grip makes the cameras much more enjoyable to use.

Although this is not quite the same shape as that on the earlier EM5 it does the job just as well. People with large hands and/or large lenses will find it very useful. People with small hands and/or small lenses may not need it. You can use the old power battery holder from the EM5 with this grip which is very handy and facilitates photos in portrait format.
